Elliott Charles Kroeker

Elliott Charles Kroeker was born September 1, 1962 in Mountain Lake, MN to the parents of Ellsworth and Beulah Kroeker. He was the youngest of three children. Elliott was baptized in the Mennonite faith. Elliott lived on the family farm until he graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1981. After graduation he moved to Minneapolis where he attended and graduated from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College for Cosmetology. He had a successful career as a Hair Stylist for 40 years working at several well-known salons in the Minneapolis area and winning a number of hair competitions. He developed great friendships with many clients who stayed loyal to him for his entire career, many of whom were still friends today. Elliott also modeled for many of the agencies in the Minneapolis area, and he loved modeling. He also received his Diamond Certificate from the Gemological Institute of America and loved designing rings and searching for gems. Elliott finally retired from the hair business and modeling in 2022. He continued to educate others on the grading and specifications of diamonds if they were in the market for that special engagement ring. His true passion throughout his entire life was architectural design - he would have made a great architect! Elliott loved traveling internationally, visiting Greece, France, Mexico and Costa Rica. Mexico captured his heart in the late 1990s. He decided to sell his home in Minneapolis and move to Playa Del Carmen; he purchased a small plot of land to build his dream tropical casa . He gained his work papers in Mexico and worked at a hair salon while living in Playa. Elliott also enjoyed traveling within the states to the East and West coasts, visiting friends and cousins, and of course touring historical mansions from the Gilded ages! In 1999 Elliott flew back to Minneapolis from Mexico to gather more of his personal belongings. It was during this time in the states that he met Greg Johnson and their worlds collided. They hung out together daily with a group of friends and then had their first date on August 8, 1999. In October of 1999 Elliott had to go back to Mexico and Greg traveled with him. Elliott had one week to decide if he was going to stay in Mexico or come back to the states with Greg; he decided to stay and make a go of it in Mexico and sent Greg back to MN. Three months later Elliott returned to Minneapolis to see if there was anything to this "Greg and Elliott" thing; he never returned to Mexico to work. They lived in Minneapolis and then moved to Bloomington in 2005 where they made their forever home. They were married on August 8, 2014 at St Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis. Elliott passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2026 after a courageous fight against cancer fed by Elliott's unwavering positivity and determination. Elliott was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Ellsworth and Be Kroeker, father and mother-in-law Don and Judy Johnson, and nephew Adam Kroeker. He is survived by his husband of 27 years Greg Johnson, his loving fur baby Claudette Chanel, brother Chet (Monica Whitson) Kroeker, sister Signe (Robert) Bradee, brother-in-law David (Lorri Ann) Johnson, and sister-in-law Lori Johnson; nephews and nieces: Matt (Meghan) Karschnik, Jed (Becca) Karschnik, Kelly (Mark Basset) Kroeker, Thaniel van Amerongen, Brooke Bock, Laura Curmek, and Soni (Carl) Nyquist; as well as 17 great nephews and nieces, Jonathan, Ella, Mina, Matilda, Athena, Julia, Jenna, Jada, Noah, Mckenzie, Gabriella, Natalie, Isabelle, Otto, Skye, Sven, and Thea. A Celebration of Life will be held at Washburn McReavy in Edina on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m.
