Eduardo "Mike" Corpus Jr

On Friday, August 27, 2021, Eduardo (Mike) Corpus Jr passed away at the age of 41. Mike was born on October 3, 1979 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines to Eduardo Corpus and Lucy Mugas and his eldest brother Merck. Mike's father passed away in 1981, and the family emigrated to the US in 1992. Mike joined a blended family with brother Andy and baby sister Leilani. Mike's stepfather, Ken, was stationed in 29 Palms California until they moved to New Jersey in 1996. Mike became ill with kidney issues in 1995 with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), but was able to attend and graduate Phillipsburg NJ High School in 1999. Mike received a kidney transplant in 2014 and was able to do things he missed out earlier in life such as travel and visit friends and family. Mike had a passion for family. He enjoyed joining where he could with cooking, eating and visiting his large expansive family and friends. He loved animals and would bring strays to the house as a child. He especially enjoyed singing karaoke, and usually scored the highest score based on his enthusiasm and volume even though he wasn't always the best singer. His singing confidence and karaoke success was so consistent he considered entering American Idol! He loves sports especially basketball and Manny Pacquiao boxing. Before he was young living on a military base, Mike and his brother Merck were known to challenge Marines on the base to pick up 2 on 2 games and win money. Mike enjoyed helping watch and raise his younger brother and sister and was an attentive uncle to Aaron and Isaiah. Mike was an avid gamer as he could enjoy all the sports and fun with his friends. Mike had many friends in Minnesota, all over the US and overseas that miss him. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Eduardo Sr, and his Lola and Lolo Mugas. He is survived by his mother, Lucia and stepfather, Kenneth. Brothers Merck and sister-in-law Analyn, and his nephews Aaron and Isaiah, brother Andy, sister Leilani and brother-in-law Nicholas, and niece Milania. Mike is also survived by a large family of aunts (Zena, Cecille, Lily, Lita, Lourdes, Lola Clara, Lina), uncles (Papa Benny, Virgilio, Bien, Jesse, Mario), many cousins, nephews Aaron and Isaiah and niece Milania. There will be a viewing and memorial service followed by refreshments at Washburn-McReavy at 1400 Main Street Hopkins on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4pm-7pm.
