Eddy Kjell Goran Christensson

Eddy Kjell Göran Christensson was born on July 21,1944 in Lund, Sweden, where his father worked for the Swedish railroad. Eddy and his two brothers, Ulf and Dan, all attended Lund University, Eddy receiving his degree in sociology and communications. Before attending college Eddy served his required military service as a "frogman" in the Swedish Navy. Too bad for you if you didn't hear his stories from that experience! Eddy always liked charting his own path. He would say half-jokingly that his parents had the premonition that he would one day emigrate to America, when they gave him the name "Eddy" - a not very common Swedish name but quite a common name in the US. At age 28, Eddy received a Rotary Scholarship to study in the US and in 1972 finally moved to the land of his favorite musicians, Elvis and Johnny Cash. During his time at Northern Illinois University, Eddy earned a Master's degree in Journalism and Public Relations and, incidentally, met Karen. She made such an impression on him that, after returning to Sweden, he decided to come back to the United States and marry her in 1977. The two chose to return to school again, this time Eddy earning his MBA. Soon after this last college stint ended, their daughter Annika was born. A new job called the family to St. Louis, Missouri in the fall of 1979, and shortly thereafter, their son Per was born. In December 1985, Eddy rented a Ryder truck and drove his family through the aftermath of an epic Midwest snowstorm to Minnesota, eventually landing in Morningside Edina. The first thing they bought was snow pants for the kids. Eddy once again decided to chart his own path and started his own company, Med-Link International, making use of his business skills. He developed and patented a unique EKG electrode clip design used in cardiology. For 15 years, he marketed, sold, and kept redesigning that electrode clip with his "boss" and great friend David, who lived in Augusta, Georgia. Eddy later worked for a small Swedish ethanol company, marketing and selling their ethanol yeast technology for another 15 years with another "boss" Lars, who became another best friend. Eddy was a very social creature and was well-known for his witty sense of humor, bringing levity and laughter to any situation. He was also a devoted family man and enjoyed being a father and playing games with his kids, including many Swedish card games they still remember. He helped coach Per's soccer team for several years and volunteered in the Junior High program at Grace Church, Edina. While Eddy carried many of his Swedish traditions into his American life, he was fiercely proud to BE an American. He became a US citizen in 2009 and loved flying the American flag outside the house on US holidays. But most of all, Eddy identified as a citizen of God's kingdom. After some life-changing small group studies at their church in St. Louis in the early 1980s, and joining Bible Study Fellowship there, too, Eddy put his faith in Jesus Christ and followed Him for the rest of his life. He loved God and shared the gospel with others until his final days on earth. Eddy is survived by his loving wife, Karen, daughter Annika, son Per, brother Dan, and multitudes of dear friends. His memorial service will be held this Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00am at City Church in Southwest Minneapolis, with an on-site reception to follow. All are welcome. Burial will take place next Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 12pm, at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. All are welcome.
