Echo Rolene Gwynn, 67, beloved wife, sister, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many passed away the morning of Saturday, January 13, 2024,with loving family by her side. After a short but fierce fight with cancer, Echo made the choice to enter hospice care and family and friends were with her every moment for her last days with us on earth. Echo was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on July 5th,1956 to Jacqueline and Leo Hofmeister. She and her older sister Charmaine were very close and maintained their close relationship throughout their adult lives. When Charmaine married Russell, he and Echo got along like peas and carrots. Charmaine and Russell's daughters, Allegra and Ashley formed a close bond with Echo and found endless joy and laughter in her loving spirit. Allegra's husband Ralph and Ashley's husband Dion both fell in love with Echo the minute they met her. Echo met Tom while working at US Bank and they were married in September of 1997. Their love and connection was and always will be strong. Echo embraced Tom's family as her own gaining children and grandchildren who she adored. Tom's children Peter, Katie, Dan, and Mary came to love Echo dearly and Zack and Adam were blessed with a devoted grandma. As the family grew, Echo and Tom welcomed into the family Peter's wife Anna and their children Oliver and Nina, Dan's wife Jenny and their children Benjamin, Abby and Megan and Mary's husband Bert and their children Isabelle and Marcus. Echo maintained her connections with her family in WI and when her mom and later her aunt were sick, she stepped up to help them without question,devoting much of her time and energy to their care out of her deep love of family. Echo loved animals and always protected them. She took in many cats and dogs who became family. She got joy from British TV, attending theater with her close friends Karin and Pat, and loved to take walks and be out in nature. She loved her home she shared with Tom in NE Minneapolis. Together, Echo & Tom discovered the Salvation Army Church near their home and Echo quickly formed strong connections with the community there. She eventually went on to work for the Salvation Army, serving others with fire in her heart and grace in her soul until retiring in July of 2023. Echo is a special light who loved bringing people together and continues to do so even now from heaven. Each person who knew her was sure to be impacted in some way by her innate joy, passion for life and kindness toward people and animals. The whole person that Echo was and is cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs. She is one of those people who did grand things in small ways in her community of people and animals that she created around her. She will be missed beyond measure. The family will join together for a private burial at Hillside Cemetery and we welcome everyone to join us at her Celebration of Life Memorial Service. The gathering will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at the Salvation Army Minneapolis Central Worship and Service Center located at 2727 Central Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418. The service will begin at 3pm, followed by a light lunch. Echo was passionate about helping both people and animals. If you are so moved, you may send a donation to the Salvation Army or a charity in service of animals. Flowers may be sent to the Salvation Army.
