Douglas Lynn Trebesch

Douglas Lynn Trebesch age 77 passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 after five months living with glioblastoma. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Doug was born on Friday, July 13, 1947 in Mahnomen, MN to August and Helen Trebesch. He was baptized August 3, 1947 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Doug moved around Minnesota with his family, who worked on various farms. On March 26, 1961 Doug was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Chaska, MN. Doug graduated from Buffalo Lake High School in 1965. He then followed his brother, Gary, and mother working at J.L. Marsh-Picwic Record Company from June 1965 to January 1967. In January 1967, Doug was drafted into the US Army to serve in the Vietnam War. He was stationed for basic training in Fort Lewis, WA. Then he was sent to Hawaii for additional training before being deployed to Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam, he became a Sargent E5, supervising eight soldiers in the artillery. He served from January 1967 to November 1968, when he was honorably discharged. Doug was awarded a bronze star for assisting the company to fire 102 continuous rounds. Upon return home from the service, Doug once again followed his brother, Gary, to Cardinal Beauty Supply, working from January 1969 to April 1979 in the shipping department. Following that, Doug was recruited by his brothers Gary, Bernie, and Darrell to work at Oildyne where he was employed for 30 years in the shipping, driving, and stock departments. Throughout the course of his career, Doug rarely missed work and was known for his strong work ethic and precision. Doug served his Lord at his home church, Immanuel Lutheran in North Minneapolis, from 1966 to 1997 in a variety of roles, including Usher, Financial Committee, and as member of the Board of Trustees. August 12, 1978, Doug married his soul mate, Mona, at Immanuel. Their marriage was blessed with son (Matthew), daughter (Sarah), and beloved family pet (Coco). After seventeen years in their North Minneapolis home, the family moved to Albertville where Doug enjoyed his corner lot and screened in porch for bird watching. Doug and Mona joined Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, MN, where Doug served as an usher. Together, they attended various Bible studies and training opportunities to deepen their faith. In his free time, Doug enjoyed camping, grilling, bonfires, spending time with siblings, taking care of his lawn and garden, providing for his family, serving his church community, and watching Mountain Men, Gunsmoke, and Clint Eastwood movies. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Mona, his children, Matt (Mia) Trebesch and Sarah (Chris) Nelson, grandchildren, Xavier, Zachary, Otis and Thor, brother, Darrell Trebesch, sister-in-law, Lois Rae Trebesch, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 for a visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and funeral service at 12:00 pm, followed by luncheon. In lieu of flowers, Doug's strong request is that donations be made to Magnus Veteran's Foundation (Dayton, MN) and Word of Peace Lutheran Church (Rogers, MN) building campaign.
