Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee Douglas Keith Kurtz age 68 of Burnsville MN. passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2026. He was surrounded by his team of caring and dedicated Drs. and nurses. Douglas was born on December 13th, 1957 in Mpls. MN. Preceded in death by his parents Don and Ruth Kurtz. Brothers Brian and Mark, sister, Ellen. He is survived by (former spouse), Kimberly, son Joshua. Daughters, Ashley, Michelle, Rachael, and Cheyenne. Along with several grandchildren, many siblings, nieces and nephews. Extended family members joined by many friends who will continue to cherish his memory. Doug had a passion for the West. From hiking the Badlands, Native American PowWows, and Patriotic ceremonies at Mt Rushmore. He loved the Black Hills and wore the turquoise with pride. Doug had a special interest in the adventures of Lewis and Clark. And was always up for a rodeo. The memorial of the brave Indian Chief Crazy Horse was his favorite place to visit especially when he could catch a glimpse of the crew blasting into the mountain. You could often find him sitting by the campfire reading a book with the sound of Native American flutes off in the distance. Photography was a hobby that was more like his profession. Never passing up a perfect moment. He could narrate a video that compared to a documentary. An Avid Wild fan who collected all things hockey will be laid to rest in his favorite Wild Jersey. He also had a wide range of musical tastes. "Ventura Highway" by the band America and "My Sweet Lord" George Harrison were long standing favorites. Attending a variety of concerts. Douglas had a big heart and compassion for the less fortunate. He donated his time volunteering at the 360 Community Food Bank where he was well liked by many. He really enjoyed helping others and felt proud to be part of this organization. His children were his Pride and Joy. A father who was supportive of all their activities. He was a regular at their sporting events, a super Girl Scout cookie seller, a homework helper, organized and chaperoned the best birthday parties. A super fun and loving dad who created some of the best times and fondest memories. He will be truly missed. May Doug's soul rest in eternal peace.
