Douglas Eugene Congdon

Douglas Eugene Congdon, age 85 of Bloomington, MN, passed away on January 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by parents, Emery & Ann Congdon, and son Peter Congdon. Survived by daughter, Michelle (Josh) Albro; daughter-in-law, Marie; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Dan), Nick (Krissy), Dakota, Montana, and Tanner; step-grandsons, Hunter, and Connor; four great grandchildren, Savannah, Avery, Jack, and Sawyer; sister, Barbara and extended family and friends. Doug was a veteran of the US Navy, a retired Bloomington Volunteer Firefighter, a 32° Mason, a Shriner, an amateur photographer, a tireless volunteer, an accomplished motorcycle enthusiast traveling throughout the US, Alaska & Europe, and BAA coach for many sports. He belonged to so many clubs and groups over his 85 years, often holding leadership roles. Doug and Marian married in 1960 as young adults and began their lifelong residency in Bloomington. Doug was a very dedicated and extremely passionate sales professional during his working career. Doug was thrilled to become a father in 1966 with Peter and again in 1969 with Michelle. Both children were adopted and with each blessing, only days were given to prepare for the new arrivals. His family was complete with his beloved dog Nicki. Doug worked hard and loved harder. Marian was the love of his life. They traveled the world. Sometimes on his Honda Goldwing, sometimes by boat on many cruises and to the timeshare in Ixtapa. Doug did everything for her. He cared for her selflessly through her fight with dementia until he knew it was time for her to move into memory care. He spent every day visiting with her until her passing. Doug believed that family was everything. Each grandchild and great grandchild filled his heart with an abundance of joy. His legacy is a true testament of the incredible, loving man that Doug was. He never hesitated when he was asked a favor. He gave all he could to help others. Doug was a beautiful light that will be greatly missed by all. Visitation 11:00 am on Friday, January 26, with memorial service at noon at Washburn-McReavy Bloomington Chapel, 2300 West Old Shakopee Road. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
