Dorothy Agnes McMahon

McMahon, Dorothy Fier May 19, 1922 - May 29, 2021 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Born in Tauton MN on the family farm and graduated from Minneota High School. Moved to Minneapolis and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business with an Associate degree. She worked in a Law Office and at the Northwestern National Bank. Preceded in death by parents Anton and Madgalene Fier, sister Louise Fier, and grandson Gregory Adler. Survived by husband Francis (Mac) of 73 years, and children Michael (Melodie), Thomas, Kathleen McMahon-Adler (Edward), sisters Bernice (Richard/deceased) Lund, Lucy Friend (Charles), Irene Swetala (Donald), brother Anton Fier Jr., grandchildren Emily Wilkinson (Douglas), Timothy (Tara), Brian Adler, Molly, Maureen Arnett-Allen (Gregory) and 4 great-grandchildren, Harper, Mia, Svea, & Tommy. Dorothy met her husband at a dance hall and their relationship continued through letters after he enlisted in the Marines in World War Two. They were engaged on one of his leaves home and married a year later in Minneota, Minnesota. They bought their first home in 1952 in Minneapolis, had their first child a year later, and Dorothy became a homemaker. Besides a busy home life she was active in St. Kevin Church, school, and girls scouts. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter. Dorothy was well known for her baking and her many family dinners. She will be greatly missed by her husband, family, and all who knew her. Our family would like to thank the Allina Hospice Team of Kirsten, Leslie, and Joan for their compassionate advice, guidance, and support. We would also like to thank the Lifesprk team at Village Shores for their kind, around the clock care that made it possible to keep our Dorothy at home until her passing. Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 5426 12th Ave. S. Mpls. Service at 11:00 am., reviewal one hour prior to Mass on June 9th. Internment at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
