Dorothy Anderson

Dorothy Ann (Weber) Anderson was born on July 16, 1937 to Willard and Dorothy Weber, and grew up in Lauderdale, Minnesota. She attended Alexander Ramsey High School and later the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to James Conroy on June 20, 1957. They had four children together; two daughters and two sons Together they operated Conroy Electric with Dorothy handling the bookkeeping, sales, and customer service. The family enjoyed spending their time traveling, especially their camping trips in the summer. Dorothy and James were married over 25 years. After Conroy Electric closed, Dorothy went on to work for the State of Minnesota. Her first position with the State was in the Department of Public Safety, and her last position was Office Services Supervisor for the Minnesota State Lottery. A highlight of her career was being the Ball Lottery Official and drawing the winning lottery numbers on broadcast television. She enjoyed hearing her name called and drawn out D-O-R-O-T-H-Y by announcer John Gallos. Dorothy met Raymond Anderson in 1989 and they were married in April 1994. Dorothy and Ray shared a passion for travel and experienced many adventures together. Some of their trips included white water rafting, Dude Ranch horseback riding, ocean cruises, down hill skiing, and camping. After Dorothy retired in 1999, she and Ray enjoyed their winter snowbird status by flocking to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. There, they made many great friends and spent their time enjoying get-togethers, playing cards, attending flea markets, and taking day trips to Mexico. In the summer they enjoyed spending time in Grand Marais, Minnesota where they also had many friends. One of Dorothy's greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was becoming a grandmother and a great grandmother. She cherished spending time and bonding with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often liked to brag to friends and strangers about the achievements of her loved ones and never missed an opportunity to share photos. After Ray's move to a nursing home, and eventual passing, Dorothy sold her Coon Rapids home and moved to Arbor Oaks Senior Living in Andover where she became an integral part of the community there. She enjoyed assisting with Bingo, going on outings, social gatherings, and participating in a variety of crafting activities. Her latest favorite activity was making Diamond Art pieces. She took great pleasure in creating and giving the pieces to her friends and family. Dorothy remained active and continued to enjoy dining out, shopping adventures with her sister Lee, attending family gatherings, going to the movies, and traveling with her children. She passed away unexpectedly prior to embarking on an Alaskan Cruise she had been looking forward to. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Dorothy Weber, her former spouse, James Conroy, and her loving husband, Raymond Anderson. She is survived by daughters Terri (Rick) Collins and Deb (Dana) Lewis, sons Tim (Mary) Conroy and Rob (Deb) Conroy, and sister Marilee Mottl; stepchildren Ken (Kim) Anderson, Keith (Sherri) Anderson, and Kevin (Shannon) Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Dorothy was known for her big heart and gentle kindness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials preferred to The American Heart Association. Funeral service Monday, August 21st at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 1115 Hanson Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. Visitation one hour prior to service. `
