Doris Schulte

Schulte, Doris Anna (Kiffmeyer) age 85, slipped quietly away to be with her Lord on the 12th of March 2024. Born in St. Augusta on April 27, 1938, she was preceded in death by her stalwart husband of 66 years: Melvin August Schulte, as well as her parents, Edwin and Marie (Schmidt) Kiffmeyer, her brothers Norman, Leonard, James Kiffmeyer, her sister Rosyln, and her newborn son, Joseph Edwin Schulte. A force of nature when it came to love and service, Doris created community wherever she focused her heartfelt industry. She served on countless civic organizations in Anoka County NOTABLY FOUNDING BOTH MERCY HOSPITAL AND Epiphany Catholic Church, volunteering and or leading dozens of committees over 60 years. For example, she founded "Keep the Wheels Turning" raising millions of dollars for the people of Haiti in honor of her lifelong friend, the patriarch of Epiphany: Father Bernard Reiser. She loved words and word games, but few things were as important to her as creating a memory with her family, whether it be a weekend extravaganza around the pool or a trip to Ireland, Medjugorje, New Orleans, or Jerusalem. Having recognized Jesus as her personal savior in the mid 70's, she began traveling the upper midwest, giving what she called "my talk" to groups (large and small) in church basements and cafeterias: delivering insights from the mind and heart of a woman of immense faith who beat cancer three times, reared six civic-minded children, and always lifted her friends and colleagues with her untiring positivity, work, and dedication. She spoke of dark despair and redemption through faith, she spoke of her deep and abiding trust in the carpenter's son from Nazareth, and she spoke of love. She was supposed to die in 1990, according to science, but science didn't know about her faith, her calling to spread the word of Jesus, and the way her community would repay her service with overwhelming prayer. Doris is survived by her six children: Joy (Andy) Larson, Jill (Curt) Lingwall, Scott (Jan) Schulte, Mark (Sue) Schulte, Jodi (Pete) McNellis, Dave (Kim) Schulte, and 16 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
