Doris Ann Schaffer (Zielinski) She fought hard to the end, but our time with Doris here on earth has finally come to a peaceful end. Diagnosed with Parkinson's and associated Lewy body dementia just a few short years ago, Doris has been battling courageously to stay tuned to the family, friends and activities she loved so much. Rescued from her Florida care facility by her "men" on Easter Sunday, she has spent the last several months at Rivers of Life in Savage surrounded by the family that she was so proud of. Doris was a Bloomington fixture for many years, chasing her 4 boys around growing up, attending many Bloomington and Holy Angels baseball and hockey games, all while running Bloomington Drug with Paul and being the greatest mom ever. Her energy level was second to none and she lived a life full of travel and competition sports all the way up until her lifestyle was taken away much too soon. She is survived by her faithful protector of 55 years, Paul Schaffer and her 4 beloved sons John, Joseph, Jacob and Jeffrey. Her life became complete when she finally added her four daughters (in-law), Sherry (Olsen), Amy (Buck), Genevieve (Genis) and Sarah (Lehnert). She is also survived by her sister, Jeanne Kleman (Mike), sister-in-law Kim Zielinski, and countless extended family loved ones and friends. She will be greatly missed by her 14 grandkids who were her most cherished gifts: Eleanor, Elymus, Samuel, Lucy, Frank, Avila, Dinah, Gina, Blaise, Rosemary, Gloria, Victory, Henry and William. They carry with them many memories of singing songs, riding jet skis at the lake and many other on-the go activities with Grandma. She is preceded in death by her parents Doris and Walter Zielinski and her brother Jack Zielinski. She was a unique person who touched many lives. She will be greatly missed. May we all rest in peace. Mass of Christian burial Friday, November 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4625 W. 125th St, Savage. 10:30am with visitation one hour prior to mass at the church, and also Thursday, November 2, 5-8pm at: Washburn-McReavy Werness Brothers Chapel 2300 W. Old Shakopee Rd. 952.884.8145
