Doris May Mruz Partyka

Doris Mae (Ferguson) Mruz-Partyka, born October 26, 1929, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, she died on Saint Mary of Bethaney Day and the full moon, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devote Catholic that attended daily mass as a longtime member of All Saints Church and St. Boniface Church in Northeast Minneapolis. Doris generously served many families by organizing funeral luncheons at All Saints Catholic Church, preparing the food, and offering comfort through her service. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, which she joined alongside her late husband, Raymond, and was a proud 1948 graduate of Marshall High School. Doris actively supported events hosted by the Northeast Minneapolis Police Station and volunteered at non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer awareness events. Doris was two-time cancer survivor. Doris proudly sponsored a family who fled Poland, forming a deeply meaningful long-term friendship. Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Mruz of 43 years; married to second husband Edward Partyka for 12 years; her children Donald Mruz, Diane Clute, Doug Mruz, and David Mruz; her mother, Nelma P. Aho; her father, Wilbert J. Ferguson; her stepfather, Anthony W. Sutkowski; her brothers, Earl and Merlin Ferguson; and her sister, Myrtle Ferguson. She is survived by her sons, Daniel Mruz Sr. and Dennis Mruz (Sarah); her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Mruz; her grandchildren, Daniel Mruz Jr., Kelly Mruz, Katie Mruz Powell (Brad), Derek Mruz, Nick Clute (Lori), Haley Maloney (Kyle), Emma Mruz, Grace Mruz, Noah Mruz; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren Powell, Bryn Powell, Landon Casserly Mruz, Zora Clute, Alex Clute, Matthew Clute, and Molly Maloney. At the remarkable age of 96, our beautiful mother and grandmother leave behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and faith. Her family was the center of her life, and she filled their lives with love, wisdom, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Doris lived a long and meaningful life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She loved her nieces, nephews and godchildren and was very active in their lives especially her beloved brother Earl's young children, Karen, Dawn, and John after his passing. Her strength, grace, generosity, and deep faith inspired those around her. We will miss her more than words can express, and we will always be grateful for the lessons she taught us. Her memory will live on in our hearts. She was blessed with two wonderful husbands, Raymond Mruz and Edward Partyka. Doris's magnetic personality drew people in, creating friendships and a large circle of friends that lasted a lifetime. She happily welcomed everyone into her home and enjoyed lunches and gatherings with friends. Doris was known for her famous secret recipe hard to duplicate cheesecakes with each piece topped with a sliced fresh strawberry, Polish sauerkraut and perogies and her Christmas cookies she handed out as gifts. She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Visits by her grandchildren were the highlight of her day. Doris was a devoted Minnesota Twins fan who cheered when Kirby Puckett's World Series Game 6 home run landed very close to her and Dan and was also a loyal Vikings fan. She enjoyed sewing for her family and was enthusiastic about her garden. Doris loved working at Dayton's as a personal shopper. The Dayton's Christmas display was an annual event she loved taking her grandchildren to. Doris loved her decades of vacations to Clitherall Lake with her family, grandchildren, the Goral family and friends, especially those at Oak Park Resort. She loved to ride her bike through the Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood with up to four to five grandchildren following behind her. Doris and her daughter-in-law Bonnie shared a rare and cherished bond of 49 years. They were true best friends, who walked through life side by side, always offering each other a steady hand, listening ear and unconditional love. Our beautiful Grandmother would always sing to her grandchildren; A Bushel and Peck and Hug around the Neck, I love you! I do, I do! They did the same to her over the last six months and during her final days! Our family was truly blessed. Visitation will be August 20th, 2026, held from 4pm-8pm at Washburn McReavy Hillside Funeral Chapel 2610 19th Avenue N.E. Minneapolis, MN 55418 Service will be held on August 21st, 2026, viewing at 9:30 am and Mass at 10 am.
