Donna Belle Wen

Donna Belle (Lowry) Wen, 87, of New Brighton MN entered eternal life on July 31, 2023. Donna was born May 17, 1936, in the rural town of Francesville, Indiana. She was the second oldest of 10 children. After high school graduation, she went on to attend Indiana Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1957. She then attended Indiana University and obtained her nursing degree and became a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1962. It was at Indiana University that she met the love of her life, Richard Wen. They married in August of 1962. Donna held many different positions in her nursing career, including teaching in nursing school at Saginaw General Hospital, working at the University of Minnesota Hospital in orthopedics, working as a public health nurse, working for an insurance company and the State of Minnesota Department of Health and Human Services. After retiring in 1998, she and Richard travelled extensively in the United States and around the world, visiting 42 countries. Dick and Donna enjoyed socializing with friends and were part of a travel club, book club, gourmet club, and taught Chinese cooking classes through community education. One of her greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was becoming a grandmother. She cherished spending time with Lauren and Courtney. Donna gave generously of her time to her church, Fridley United Methodist. She was active in the United Methodist Women (UMW) women's group and her women's circle for many years. She was always looking to help others and was ready to help with many church events and volunteer opportunities including finding furniture, clothing, and housing when the church sponsored a refugee family. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, worked alongside her, and in those who received her gracious loving help. Donna is now reunited with her parents Donald and Alice, and with her 8 brothers and sisters: Kenneth, Richard, Dean, Paul, James, Mildred, Louise, and Sharon. Donna is dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Richard; daughter Angela (David) Panter; son Jonathan Wen; sister Mary (Eldon) Everidge; grandchildren Lauren (Brandon) Koch, Courtney (Pierce) Koch, Emily (Mark) Camp; Corey (Becky) Panter; great granddaughter Anneliese Panter; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday September 29th from 4-7pm at the Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel located at 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd, Coon Rapids MN 55433. (763-767-1000). A celebration of life service will be held at 11am Saturday September 30th, with visitation 1 hour prior (10-11am), at Fridley United Methodist Church, 680 Mississippi St, Fridley MN 55432. A reception will follow the service. A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling cemetery at a later date.
