Donna Mae Weigel

Donna Mae Weigel was born on October 11, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to her parents, Anton and Hilda Leinum. She grew up in the city and graduated from South High School in 1959. While working in food service at Saint Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, she met the love of her life, Thomas Weigel. On January 11, 1964, they were united in marriage at Saint Helena Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Together, they built a loving family and raised their two sons, Michael and Gregory. After their sons were grown, Donna and Thomas moved to Burnsville. She worked as an administrative assistant for Aslesens and later with the Farm Credit Administration, retiring after a career with the Federal Government. Thomas passed away in 1995, and following her retirement in 2005, Donna relocated to Albertville, carrying with her the cherished memories of their life together. Donna lived a full and active life. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader, always with boxes of books close at hand. With her husband, she spent many joyful years with a close circle of friends-bowling, playing cards, and camping together with their families. She also enjoyed long walks and took great pride in watching her grandchildren in their activities. She will be remembered for her generosity and thoughtfulness. She delighted in Christmas, and her children often joked that her gift bags had no bottom. She made a habit of calling to check in, always taking a sincere interest in the lives of others. Known for her attention to detail, she kept meticulous notes and followed directions to a tee, making sure everything was done just right. Her quiet strength and kind spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Donna Mae Weigel passed away at the age of 84 on April 2, 2026, at Elim Wellspring Healthcare Center in Princeton. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Michael (Kimberley) Weigel and Gregory (Kristie) Weigel; and her grandchildren, Thomas Weigel, Connor Weigel, and Kylie Weigel. Donna was joyfully reunited in heaven with her husband, Thomas Weigel, her parents, and her seven siblings: Edith Leinum, Andrew Leinum, Alice (Leinum) Peterson, Dennis Leinum, Robert Leinum, Virgil Leinum, and Floyd Leinum. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Washburn McReavy Bloomington Funeral Chapel on Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington, MN. The memorial service will take place at 11:00 am in the Chapel with a luncheon immediately following the service.
