Dennis Gordon Oberg

Dennis Gordon Oberg, 82, entered his Heavenly home on April 26, 2025, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, after a long battle with Parkinsons, surrounded by his loving wife of 51 years and his four children. Dennis Oberg, born on October 8, 1942, in Isle, MN, was the son of the late Stene and Gladys Oberg of Princeton, MN. He grew up on a farm where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for God and his family. After graduating from Silver Bay High School, he attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for two years and was then drafted by the U.S. Army, where he served for two years as a medic. Following the army, he worked in the airline industry at Northwest and Delta for over 40 years before retiring. A loving husband to Kathy, Dennis was a pillar of strength and support for his family. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and make us laugh with his witty remarks. He cherished family gatherings, especially as his family grew to include grandchildren, and he participated in many backyard games and card games. He was never one to just "sit"; he wanted to play! Dennis had many passions, including road biking, fly fishing, boating, the MN Wild, sudoku, and puzzles. He especially enjoyed camping with Kathy and his children at Cross Lake and the North Shore. He loved attending Wooddale Church to learn about God, sing in the choir, and read the Bible daily. He was an avid DIY enthusiast and taught his children many useful skills, from landscaping to construction to car repairs. Most of all, he took great pride and joy in watching his kids and grandkids play their many sports and activities. Their presence always brought a smile to his face. His most admirable quality was his ability to connect and befriend every person he met through his bright smile, gentle spirit, and jovial humor. Even near the end of his illness, his youthful, fun-loving presence and love for others brought laughter to all who met him. He is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Sophia. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife, Kathy, his children: Nathan (Heather), Rebecca (Rob), Jessica, and Angela (Rob), and their 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald and Douglas Oberg. To honor Dennis' memory, a service will be held at Wooddale Church, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend to celebrate Dennis' life. Livestream will begin at 10:45 am at https://www.wooddale.org/events. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Parkinson's Foundation and/or Wooddale Church. There are no words to express the love and longing we have for you in your absence. We are grateful to the past that holds our sacred memories with you, our present day as you walk beside us, and the hope for our future when we will be reunited again in heaven.
