Denise Arlene Neisz

Denise Arlene Neisz passed away on February 8, 2025 at the untimely age of 60 due to post surgical complications associated with the treatment of brain cancer. Denise was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 19, 1964 and with the exception of 3 years in Stockholm, Sweden, lived her life in Minnesota. At an early age, Denise emerged as a caring person and advocate for rights and privileges for those that could not speak up for themselves. This unfolded in her ferocious appetite for learning about human rights and equality, biology and the life sciences. Professionally, she started as a nurse's aid and subsequently joined a medical company as clinical coordinator where she was an instrumental contributor in making novel medical technologies available for patients across the globe. Her passion to help extended beyond her job as she was a driving force in achieving many improvements in the education of the blind and otherwise disabled children. A journey with many obstacles and through many venues, all in the pursuit of improving awareness, education, and advocacy for the disabled. Her motto was: "We are not that different from each other, just open up and learn". In that spirit, she and her husband Hans hosted many foreign exchange students and exposed these young adults to the culture in the US but also the local students to cultures from abroad. A most rewarding experience that planted the seed for a more unified world. Her artistic talents were many as she continued to expose herself to new crafts such as painting, woodcarving, textile arts, music, etc. Her talents most distinctly showed up in the creation of many beautifully crafted weavings that decorated our home and those of friends and families to whom she gifted her creations. Denise was an organizer "extraordinaire". Arranging and hosting family gatherings were events that everyone looked forward to with food and fun in abundance. Above all, Denise was a devoted mother. This empowered her in providing the utmost level of love, care, encouragement, and inspiration for those in her life. Whether it be her children, family, or friends. And it is this, that leaves the biggest void in the life of those that were touched by her love, wisdom and kindness. Denise is survived by her husband Hans, son Dominique, daughter Kelly and siblings, Jimmy (Michelle) Kultala, Debra Kultala, Diane Franklin, Dawn Kultala, Darci (Tom) Tanberg and her nieces and nephews (Risto, Aili, Sophia, Ethan, Keely, Dylan and Maija). As per her wishes, Denise will be cremated and a memorial service will be held on March 7, 2025 with a social gathering at 1PM and celebration of life service at 2PM at Washburn - McReavy, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. Coon Rapids, MN 55433.
