Deloris Ellison Brain

Brain, Deloris Ellison age 94 of Golden Valley, formerly of Edina. Born in Morton, Minnesota on January 4, 1924 to Carrie and Otto Ellison, died January 27, 2018. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 58 years, Phil Brain, Jr. and brothers Don and Russ (Mike) Ellison. She is survived by her two daughters, Beth Moorhead (Ian) and Sue McConville (Ed), both of Plymouth. Deloris loved being grandmother to Katie Rutledge (Cory), Laura Amis (Steve), Carrie (Andrew Henningsgaard) and Sean McConville (Erika). She especially enjoyed her great grandchildren Maclain, Beckett, Brynn, Ellie, Gloria and Layla. Deloris was a member of Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church since March 26, 1950. We thank Rev. Jim McChesney for all the wonderful visits over the years. She was the world's best volunteer and helping people was important to her. She was a Pink Lady delivering mail with Trudy at Methodist Hospital, a Convention and Tourism volunteer in the IDS Crystal Court and was a Travelers Aid Volunteer at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport for 21 years. She also volunteered at Hennepin Church and Covenant Village in a variety of ways, and Children's Hospital gift shop, the Republican party and the Minneapolis Rotary. She had many part time jobs and needed to know what day of the week it was so she knew which job to go to. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. She had many gifts that she shared with others. She could play the piano by ear. She was extremely generous, loved her family, was a friend to many, was always pleasant, was appreciative and enjoyed life. Deloris and Phil lived in the Edina home built by her brother R.W. Ellison (Mike) for 44 years until they moved to Covenant Village in Golden Valley in 2001. In February 2017 she moved to Colonial Acres where the amazing and loving staff and residents helped her thrive this past year. We want to thank special friend Sarah Lux who has cared for Mom this past year with amazing love and devotion. We wish to thank HomeInstead and their fabulous employees, especially Paula and Barbara for the four plus years of loving care. Memorials preferred to the YMCA of Minneapolis, 30 South 9th Street Minneapolis 55402, Children's Minnesota Foundation, 5901 Lincoln Drive CBC-3-Found, Edina 55436 or Colonial Acres, 5825 St. Croix Avenue, Golden Valley 55422. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 31 at 1 pm. At Covenant Village Fellowship Center, 5800 St. Croix Avenue in Golden Valley. Visitation will be 1 hour prior.
