Debra Larson Harrison

Debra Larson Harrison, 63, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at her home in Somerset, Wisconsin. She had suffered an extended illness, and spent her last moments by the fire surrounded by her family, her beloved scotties, and sounds of the lake and loons. Debra grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota, attending school at Pond, Portland and graduating from Kennedy High School in 1979. Her childhood away from school was spent with her family in the Brainerd Lakes Area at the campground at Loon Lake and then later at the family cabin in Nisswa. In 1985 she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Forestry. After several adventurous forestry-related internships, Debra worked at the Westvaco Forest Science Laboratory in Summerville, South Carolina, and as a contract Data Analyst for various firms in the Twin Cities. She met and married John "Jack" Harrison of South Carolina in 1988 and raised two boys in their marriage of 36 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and best friend and volunteered her time to numerous school activities and field trips. She served as both Den Leader and Pack Leader for the local Cub Scout pack, and organized fundraising efforts for the local Boy Scout troop. Debra was intelligent, curious, and adventurous and loved to explore her favorite place on earth along the North Shore of Lake Superior. She also liked to go fast, whether on the back of the Harley, or driving her turbo-charged Camaro. She maintained special friendships from her childhood and school days. She loved flowers, gardening, and scrapbooking and was a rabid Vikings fan. She is survived by her husband Jack, children John "Jack" Harrison Jr. (Vilay Dethluxay) and Luke Harrison, brother Leonard "Lenny" Larson, niece Jennifer Berg (Larson), and nephew Jake Larson. She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard "Sonny" and Marilyn Larson. A memorial service will be held on March 21, 2025, at 11am at Hillside Chapel, 2610 19th Ave, NE Minneapolis MN. Visitation one hour prior.
