Dean "Deano" Walsh

Walsh, Dean Patrick ("Deano") age 67, of Brooklyn Park. Born May 21, 1942 in Minneapolis and died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 after a short, but courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Preceded in death by parents, Mike and Norma Walsh; sister, Joanne of Minnesota and brother, Tim of Florida. Survived by loving wife, Patti, of 24 wonderful years; sister, Diane Hackett (Duane); brother, Jack Walsh (Mary); beloved father of Larry, Brian, Laura, DeAnna (Richard) and Frank (Heidi); proud grandfather to Samantha, Elizabeth, Richard, Joshua, Krista and Gregory; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In his youth, he served four years in the Marine Corps. He retired from the Star Tribune after 38 years of service as a Pressman. Dean was a devoted husband to Patti. They enjoyed spending time together, going camping in their motor home, motorcycle trips, sightseeing on the North Shore, walking, biking, playing cards, dancing and going on Cruises. Dean was a hardworking man with a courageous spirit and quiet strength. What he treasured most was time with family and went out of his way to lend a helping hand to others. He loved helping anyone with a project. Dean was heavily involved in the Fridley Alano Club and had 29 years of sobriety. He enjoyed taking road trips on his motorcycle with friends. He loved to travel and some of his fondest memories were time spent shelling on the beaches with his mother and siblings in Florida. Two years before retirement, he enrolled at MCTC to become a cabinet maker. He had a passion for making beautiful furniture and cabinetry for family and friends. Dean's memory will live on in his family and friends and he will be deeply missed! The family would like to give special thanks to the Oncology Team and ICU at Methodist Hospital. Dean was truly blessed to have been the recipient of your care! Memorial Service at 11:00 am Monday, July 6th with visitation one hour prior to service at Washburn - McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
