David Stohl

Stohl, David Clare age 66, of Aitkin, Minnesota, died May 8, 2010 in Palm Bay, Florida. Preceded in death by father, Helmer Stohl; mother, Ida Stohl; brother, Bruce Stohl; as well as beloved pets, Pandora and Rufus. He is survived by wife, Valerie; daughter, Karen Jettenberg; son, Tracy Stohl; son, David (Vonda) Stohl; son, Rick (Niki) Morgan, son, Doug (Sandy) Davidson; sister, Susan Wozney; sister-in-law, Mim Stohl; brother-in-law, Jeff (Gwen) Vance; uncle, Harry Stohl; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and many cousins that he thought of as brothers and sisters. David spent the majority of his career as a Golden Valley Police Officer, sidelined by injury he went on to supervise their Emergency Communications Department. In 1991 he and Valerie moved to Aitkin, Minnesota where life was a little more laid-back and worked as a dispatcher for the Brainerd Sheriff's Department and later the City of Crosby. At age 55, he left Law Enforcement and worked for several years as the Treasurer of First Lutheran Church in Aitkin. He ended his career working part time for Paulbeck's County Market and Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge. When Valerie retired, they became "snow birds," wintering in Palm Bay, Florida. While in Florida, David was always on the go, playing cards and board games, bocce ball, singing in the park chorus, performing in the yearly variety show and calling bingo. He lived life to the fullest and his warmth and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM (visitation one hour prior) on June 5, 2010 at Hillside Cemetery, 2610 19th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN. Interment to follow at 3:00. A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM (visitation one hour prior) on June 13, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, 107 Second St SE, Aitkin, MN. Lunch to be served following the service.
