David Lee Jacobson

David Lee Jacobson passed away on July 28, 2024 in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 78. Born on March 3, 1946, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, David was a cherished member of his community and a beacon of kindness and support to all who knew him. David's early education was completed in Battle Lake and Fergus Falls, Minnesota, followed by earning two Master's Degrees in Statistics and Math Education from the University of Minnesota. His academic pursuits were briefly interrupted when he honorably served in the Army for one year and 11 months as a Chaplain's Assistant. Following his military service, David embarked on a notable career with the State of Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, where he dedicated over 30 years to public service before retiring. His work impacted many, and his dedication to his role was evident to all who worked alongside him. A devout and lifelong member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN, David was deeply rooted in his faith. His involvement in the church extended beyond regular attendance-he was an active participant in the church choir and faith community, contributing to various activities and forming lasting relationships with fellow members. David's passions included singing in choirs, solving puzzles of all kinds, playing bridge, and cheering for the Minnesota Gophers. Each hobby brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests. He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol Jacobson; daughter, Kristin Davenport (Ben); brother, Dale Jacobson (Mardelle); and a large circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. David was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Vera (Westad) Jacobson; brother, Seldon Jacobson; niece, Jennifer Kovacovich; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Jacobson, Westad and Kovacovich families. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel in Shoreview, MN. A memorial service will follow on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church or the Minnesota Golden Gopher Fund, honoring David's lifelong support and passion. The Washburn-McReavy Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home in Shoreview, MN, is assisting the family with arrangements. David's legacy of kindness, dedication, and community involvement will forever be remembered and cherished by those who had the privilege to know him.
