Darrel James Schroeder

Darrel James Schroeder, 75, of Blaine, passed away peacefully September 24, 2023, at Homestead at Anoka. Darrel was born October 13, 1947 to Ernest and Erna (Plath) Schroeder in Hutchinson, MN. He was born and raised on a farm north of Buffalo Lake. He graduated from Buffalo Lake in 1965 and received a Bachelor’s in Business degree from Mankato State University in 1970. Darrel moved to Omaha, NE in 1972 where he was involved in sales of insurance. He was blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Melissa during this time. In 1993, he returned to MN and took residence in Blaine. Throughout his life he enjoyed various sales positions while meeting and creating many friends along the way. On November 2, 2002, Darrel was united in marriage to Vicki Schroeder at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti, MN. Last year they celebrated their 20th anniversary and he adored spending time with her on casino and bingo adventures. Darrel was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to play golf with his brother, Del. Throughout his life he enjoyed collecting firearms of all kinds and even made his own bullets for a majority of them. He also loved to collect hats and destination shot glasses. He cared deeply for his children and grandchildren and enjoyed keeping in touch with his daughters in Omaha, visiting them, and taking trips with them and their families. Darrel is survived by his wife Vicki; his daughter Michelle (Scott) Sagar of Gretna, NE; his daughter Melissa Rutherford of Omaha, NE; his stepson, Tim Schroeder of Arden Hills, MN; his grandchildren Tristan and Derek Rutherford, Kylee and Brayden Schroeder; his brother Delwin (Sue) Schroeder of Blaine, MN; his sister-in-law Louise Schroeder of Hutchinson, MN; his father-in-law Fred Schleicher of Phoenix, AZ; his brother-in-law Tom (Jan) Schleicher of St. Cloud. MN; brother-in-law Steve (Janice) Schleicher of St. Cloud, MN; his sister-in-law Tammie (Vince) of Gettysburg, PA; many nieces, nephews, a grandnephew, other relatives and friends. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Erna Schroeder, his brother Dennis Schroeder, his mother-in-law Lois Schleicher, and his daughter-in-law Michelle Schroeder.
