Daniel Stephen Schleck

Daniel Schleck, 60, of Edina, Minnesota, passed away on September 8, 2024 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his family whom he loved wholeheartedly, with an openness and warmth that touched everyone around him.. Dan was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Stephen and Marian Schleck. Growing up in Madison, he enjoyed all sports, excelling in football and hockey. A lifetime badger fan, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a Chemical Engineering Degree, he went on to earn a law degree from Kent College of Law in Chicago. Dan's first job after college was as an engineer with Waste Management in Chicago, where he developed an interest in land use, which ultimately sparked his passion for law. While working full-time, he attended law school at night. After earning his law degree, Dan and Laura moved to Minnesota to raise their three children. He built a successful career as an attorney, specializing in land use and redevelopment. Dan loved all sports, especially lacrosse, where he not only coached his children's teams but also became a referee. Known for his larger-than-life personality, his dedication to volunteering, and his ability to connect with anyone, anywhere, Dan touched countless lives with his openness and kindness. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura (Greenshields); his daughter, Dr. Katie Sharpe, and her husband Will; his sons, Max and Tony; his brother, Jim; Jim's wife, Tracy; and their son, Leo. He is preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Marian. Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the medical staff at University of Minnesota Hospital for their compassionate care during his illness. A service to celebrate Dan's life will be held on Saturday September 21st at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Edina. A visitation will take place Friday September 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy in Edina. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan's honor may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.LLS.org.
