Daniel John Immele

Daniel John Immele age 87 of St. Paul, MN passed peacefully on October 2, 2024. Dan was born on February 28, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Rose and Paul Immele. He graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Souix City, IA in May 1955 and joined the Navy shortly thereafter. Dan served four years in Naval Air Squadron Five, based in Jacksonville, FL and was Honorably discharged from service in February 1960. The navy was not only an opportunity to learn avionics but an inspiration to his future travels. While serving he had the opportunity to travel to many countries, some including being stationed in Greenland, Spain and Puerto Rico. While in the service he learned avionics which would serve as the foundation of his post-service careers as an aerospace engineer and flight instructor. While stationed in Jacksonville, FL Dan met his future wife, Carolyn. They fell in love and married on April 15, 1961. Dan and Carolyn settled in St. Paul, MN. Their love endured a lifetime and together they raised three daughters: Daphne Immele (Brian Messer), Melissa Vitek (Doug), and Kristi Mundstock (Brian). Dan enjoyed gardening, traveling the world, and gourmet club with Carolyn. Dan is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn, his brothers Donald, Paul Jr., and Roger, and his sister Francis. He leaves a legacy that lives through his ten grandchildren: Cory Brathall (Pishcha), Amelia Brathall, Alexandra Vitek (Michael Henderson), Michael Vitek (Daphne Jin), Samantha Vitek (Maddie Tomlinson), Aidan Vitek, Sarah Mundstock, Kaitlin Ancel (Richard), Collin Mundstock, and Natalie Mundstock (Garrett Corkins); and six great-grandchildren: Carnell, Ephram, Isaac, Alexander, Eleanor, and Ava. Dan was truly blessed to be surrounded by his loved ones in his last hours on this Earth. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Washburn-McReavy Werness Brothers Bloomington Chapel (2300 W. Old Shakopee Road Bloomington, MN 55431) with visitation at 10:00am, service at 11:00am, and internment to immediately follow the service at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Following the interment, people are invited to Daphne's for a light meal and beverages at 8835 Fremont Avenue Bloomington
