Desmonds, Daniel J., age 83 of Lino Lakes, MN Preceded in death by parents Ernest and Ernestine Desmonds; sisters Donna (Frank) Bacon; Mary Elaine (A. Paul) Hoy; J. Charlene (Thomas) Dudley; and son-in-law Jon Bidinger. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Mary Ann; daughters Lorrie (Blaze) Johnson, Lisa Desmonds; grandson Zach Johnson (Regan Oman); granddaughter Collette Johnson; brother-in-law Thomas Neumann (Marita); and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. After earning an electrical engineering degree from Purdue University, he led a distinguished career with Control Data, Zycad, Tandem Computers and others, where he designed and held several patents for supercomputer chips. A lifelong jazz and big band enthusiast, Dan played tenor, alto and baritone saxophone, as well as clarinet, performing in the Purdue Marching Band, the Roseville Community Band, Roseville Big Band, The Johnny Owen Band, White Bear Big Band, and the Golden Tones. He was an avid reader, Sudoku player, and railroad enthusiast who loved a good bourbon and always had a bag of M&Ms nearby. Above all, Dan enjoyed spending time at the North Shore and traveling with Mary Ann, rehearsing and performing with bandmates, catching up with friends, and gathering with his loved ones. He will be dearly missed by many. Private family service.
