Edina - Bryant, Daniel MacDonald, Sr. Born February 9th, 1939 - Died April 3rd, 2025 Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend It is with sadness but in celebration of life that we announce the passing of Daniel MacDonald Bryant, Sr. (Danny). Danny was born in Edina, Minnesota in 1939, the youngest child to Dr. James and Edith Bryant. He is survived by his sister, Sue Bachman. His late siblings were Jack, Judy, and Diane. Dan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, known for his inquisitive mind, earnest ear, and compassionate spirit. He graduated from Edina High School in 1957 then on to Westminster College, graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Sociology. He served in the Naval reserves following graduation and began a long career in sales across different industries which he used as a platform to better understand people, a continuous passion. A favorite quote: "In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him." R. W. Emerson Dan married Chrys Campbell on August 10th, 1962, beginning a devoted marriage of 63 years that brought deep color and coherence to their vow "in sickness and in health". In addition to his cherished Chrys, Dan is survived by three sons: Daniel, Jr (m. Jane, daughters Katherine, Anna, Eden), Bruce, and Scott (m. Sue). Throughout his life, Dan studied and appreciated people, read voraciously, never missed a chance to spend time in nature, play golf and tennis, spend time at the "shack" on Bryant Point, and travel with Chrys. Dan dedicated 18 years of his life coaching youth sports, shaping the character of young athletes as much as their slap-shots. He was a faithful Christian and would often recite his favorite Robert Burns prayer at family meals: "Some hae meat and canna eat, And some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat and we can eat, And sae the Lord be thankit." Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 31st at 10:30am at Washburn-McReavy, 5000 W 50th St and Hwy 100, Edina. A Memorial Service and luncheon will follow at 11:30a.m. Places of remembrance will be Resurrection Cemetery and his nature homes, Shady Island and Bryant Point.
