Dale Roy Palmer (1933-2024) Dale Palmer, 90, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 24, as he lived his life, surrounded by the love of family, with his wife of 66 years by his side. Dale was born on February 6, 1933 in Osakis, Minnesota to Roy and Cora (Bergner) Palmer. He lived throughout the Midwest as a child, eventually settling in Alexandria, Minnesota. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School and the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Master's degree in electrical engineering. He joined Honeywell straight out of college and was at the forefront of the semiconductor industry, which also took him to Silicon Valley. He married the love of his life, Carol (Meinhold), in 1957. Together, they raised four children in Bloomington, MN; Minnetonka, MN; Saratoga, CA; Freeport, IL; and Plymouth, MN. Wherever life took him, his strong faith in God carried him through the best and toughest of times. Dale was devoted to his family and was an active parent and positive role model for all his children. Dale always made family vacations a priority and fun, including hiking in the Tetons, skiing at Tahoe, canoeing in the Boundary Waters, and visiting grandparents in Alexandria, MN and Mt. Morris, IL. The soccer games and dance recitals for grandchildren were a priority. But, he also made the smaller moments special, as well like fishing at Parkers Lake with his grandchildren. While family always came first, those who knew Dale well knew that his love of golf was a close second. Dale was grateful for opportunities to golf some of the great courses in Ireland, Scotland, and the United States, as well as his great friends at Pheasant Acres Golf Club. With his amazing memory, Dale could recall not just the courses, but specific holes he played and scores over the year - even in his final days. He was so proud to shoot his age on many occasions. In retirement, in addition to golf, he enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling, spending winters in San Diego and making many new friends at Riley Crossing. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Geraldine (Chuck) Carlson; his parents-in-law, Wilfred and Edna (Allison) Meinhold and his brother-in-law, Neil (Donna) Meinhold. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carol; his brother Don (Dorothy) Palmer of Kansas City; and his children: Michael (Kelly), Minneapolis; David (Kirsten) Michigan, Mark (Deirdre), Edina; and Lori (Jon) Larson, Deephaven. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alex Palmer, Katelyn (Michael) Brammer and Nick (Kimberly) Palmer; Helen, Anthony and Caroline Palmer; and Annika and Allison Larson, as well as four great-grandchildren. Dale will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Riley Crossing (Chanhassen) and Brighton Hospice for their loving and attentive care of Dale in his last months. True angels! A private family gathering will be held.
