Cristine D. Whiting, age 59, of Minneapolis, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2025. Cristine was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Eileen Nolden, and her father, Thomas Nolden. She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Mark, and her loving children: Rachel (Adam) Wiley, Jennifer Whiting, Brent (Adrian) Whiting, Valerie (Tunji) Okanlawon, Melanie (Chris) Hettervig, and Angelina (Connor) Teinert. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, her mother, Diane Nolden, her brothers, Rob (Shelley) Nolden and Derek Nolden. Born on March 11, 1965, in Minneapolis, Cristine—known fondly as Cris—was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She faced many challenges in life including a long battle with Huntington’s disease and other disabilities. Despite these struggles, Cris remained a beacon of strength and compassion, inspiring everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She never allowed her hardships to define who she was and instead dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, who were the center of her world. Cris found immense joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Whether building Legos, playing games, watching movies, or simply chatting, she made every moment special. Her laughter and warmth filled the room, creating memories that her family will cherish forever. Cris had a passion for learning and travel, always seeking to explore new places and immerse herself in different cultures. She taught herself French, German and Hebrew. Her life was marked by unwavering support and selflessness, especially during difficult times. This was evident in her steadfast care and encouragement during her child’s cancer treatments, where she embodied resilience and love. Her strength in those moments left an enduring legacy of hope and determination for her family. Though her passing leaves an unfillable void, her loved ones take solace in knowing that she is now free from pain and at peace. Cris’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as her strength, kindness, and indomitable spirit continue to inspire. A celebration of Cris’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Crystal Lake Funeral Home, 3816 Penn Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55412.
