Dr. Clarence S. Lindley Jr.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. Psalm 100:4 Dr Clarence S. Lindley Jr. passed away peacefully on July 6, 2020 at 84 years of age. Clarence embraced all of the days given him. Clarence served others as a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, teammate, dentist, and friend. He loved his family dearly. Clarence enjoyed the pleasures of golf, boating, fishing, world travel with his wife Jean and friends and family, working with his hands, participating in athletics, and watching all kinds of sports - especially Minnesota Gopher teams! He loved to soak up God’s sunshine. Perhaps his greatest pleasure on earth was to sing and be swept up in any tune. He praised The Lord by singing in the church choir for many, many years. One could often find him tapping his fingers, humming along, or singing out. Jesus put joy in Clarence’s heart. Clarence was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2005. The Lord sustained his life well beyond the expected Alzheimer’s course, which greatly blessed his family. Thank you, Jesus! All who knew Clarence will remember his sense of humor and miss his jokes. One never knew when they were coming but they were spot on and funny every time. He was a quiet man, but The Lord is gracious and showed us all Clarence’s dear heart. Clarence is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean. Also three children who loved him dearly, Dana, Todd (Mary), and Cara (Erick). Grandchildren, Adam (Abby), Abby (David), Ross (Sarah), Paige (Julio), Tyler (Meaghan), Cole, Dane, Luke, and Thea all cherished the time they shared with their Grandpa Clarence. Clarence also sweetly touched the lives of his ten great grandchildren. Sing the glory of The Lord’s name; give to Him glorious praise! Psalm 66:2 Due to COVID-19, a small gathering is planned to bury Clarence’s ashes and share our gratitude for his life at Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s cemetery in Lanesboro, MN. A larger celebration of life, when more safe, will likely be held in the Twin Cities. Any memorial gifts to honor Clarence can be given to Memorial Blood Centers (737 Pelham Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55114), Alzheimer’s Association (225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601), or the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry (P.O. Box 860266, Minneapolis, MN 55486-0266).
