Cindy Lee Prichard

Cindy Lee (Nunamaker) Prichard left this life to be with her Lord, Jesus on Saturday, February 24, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Jamestown, New York on October 18, 1949. She was the only child of James M. Nunamaker and Martha J (Gibson) Nunamaker. When she was 3 years old, the family moved to the foothill area of the San Fernando Valley in southern California. Cindy graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1967 and attended Los Angeles Valley College and California State University, Northridge. Cindy's faith in Jesus as savior and lord began when she was 17. She was recovering from a critical illness and a friend visited her. In her own words, "He explained that I was a sinner, but that Jesus had died to pay for my sins. Good works would not save me. Religion and ritual would not save me. Only the blood of Jesus Christ could pay for my sins." She accepted the gospel that her friend was impressed to share because she had come close to death. Beginning her new life as a Christian, she joined the Baptist church, sang in the choir, and worked as a counselor in the Baptist camp with children and with developmentally disabled adults that came to the camp for a week each year. In August of 1970, while volunteering as a camp counselor at high school camp, she met another counselor, Jim Prichard. From that week Jim and Cindy were inseparable. They began their 51 year marriage on September 9, 1972. The family moved to Minnesota in 1983. Cindy always looked for ways to help and to teach. An incomplete list includes teaching kindergarten, for 8 years, at Bryant Avenue Baptist School, sewing costumes for many plays and musical productions in the church (including outfitting her husband as the James the apostle), forming and teaching puppet teams, and washing dishes for a Christian daycare. She taught Sunday School, worked in the AWANA program and in Vacation Bible School. She also taught sewing in the Christian school. She will be remembered for her courage and compassion, service, joy, and faith. Even in her last days of life on earth, she would draw those she met to tell their stories, rather than telling her own. Cindy is survived by her husband James, her sons Lloyd (Katy) and Robert; daughter Elizabeth; and grandchildren Abbey, Jacob, Ainsley and Victoria. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024, at 2pm at Bryant Avenue Baptist Church, 5601 Bryant Ave South, Minneapolis, MN 55419. Welcome and fellowship at 1:30pm. Interment will be in Dawn Valley Memorial Park, 9940 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington, MN 55438
