Christopher E. Wolla

Christopher (Chris) Eric Wolla was born March 18th, 1968 to Chester and Darlene Wolla in Tioga, North Dakota.He graduated from Tioga High School in 1986, and moved to the Twin Cities in 1987. Chris was united in marriage to Jodie Lynn Rieger on July 17th, 1993 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. They became parents to three children: twin boys, Caden and Carson, and daughter, Kiley. Chris's work career was primarily centered around Parks and Recreation. He spent twenty-five years with the City of New Brighton, where he held a number of different positions. He first worked as the Assistant Golf Course manager at Brightwood Hills, and he later held positions with the City of New Brighton as Golf Course Manager, Park Maintenance Employee and then most recently, Parks Superintendent. It was during this time when he was awarded the Michael J Walker Spirit Award. In addition, Chris also served over twenty years for the New Brighton Fire Department. There were countless times where he answered the call of duty and was a willing servant to those in need. Through these experiences he developed many indelible bonds with those whom he worked and served. Throughout his life, Chris had a great love for food. Chris was an outstanding cook and grill master, and he would often prepare food for family and friends because of his great love and passion for serving others through doing what he loved. Chris is survived by his wife of thirty years, Jodie; sons, Caden and Carson (22); daughter, Kiley (19); brothers, Randy and Ricky. Also survived by father-in-law and mother-in-law Bob and Jan Rieger. Siblings Todd (Renee) Rieger and Tanya (Bryan) Wilkerson, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had a special bond with his cousin, Don Leholm, with whom he shared many life adventures as he and Don moved to the Twin Cities together in 1987. Chris also developed a profound connection with his many co-workers throughout his years of service to the community and City of New Brighton.
