Christa Ingrid Hanson

Christa I Hanson passed peacefully at Eagle Crest Care Facility in Roseville, Minnesota surrounded by family on April 17th, 2026, after suffering from dementia for a couple years She was born February 20th, 1935, in Elmshorn Germany to Herta and Max Niss. She moved to the United States in 1954 in search of a new life. She lived in Oaks, North Dakota and worked as a waitress where she learned to speak English. It was there that she met Bernard Loerzel and soon they married. She had four boys: Alan, Bruce, Michael and Christopher. She was devoted to her family caring for them more than anything else. Her love of family and friends were her strengths. She is survived by her sons, stepchildren, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sons: Alan (Anita) Loerzel, Bruce (Rose) Loerzel, Michael (Lori) Loerzel and Christopher Loerzel. Stepchildren: David (Susan) Loerzel and Sherry Loerzel. Grandchildren: Bruce Jr. Loerzel, Joshua (Jennifer) Loerzel, Joshua (Mary) Johnson, Jaydon Johnson, Robbie Loerzel and Noah Loerzel. Great Grandchildren: Cayden Loerzel, Cylee Loerzel, Norah Loerzel and Sophia Loerzel. Mom had a big heart and a beautiful spirit. She was a wonderful Mom. She taught us many important life lessons in order to live a proper life. She taught us well. Mom was tough but had a sensitive side and loved to be with people. She especially loved hosting family gatherings. The more people the better and always made sure everyone was taken care of before helping herself. Mom was very generous, always giving to everyone. She made dozens of Afghans so that every family member received one. She loved cooking, plants, knitting, music, going to casinos, playing bingo, and going on vacations. She also loved the cabin. She will deeply be missed! And her spirit will live on in the many lives she has touched. (Christa's) funeral is scheduled for May 1st, 2026, from 1:00 - 3:00pm at Washburn-McReavy 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW Coon Rapids, MN 55433. "Special messages from Bruce, Michael and Christopher" Bruce and his three brothers loved their mom. She had a passion for knitting, making many quality items, like afghans, oven mitts, house slippers and scrubbies. She started knitting at a very young age. Michael said that Christa was a terrific Mom! She was always ready with sound advice and delicious meals. She loved to cook and host family gatherings. She always had a very positive outlook on life and embraced fun and family. Until we meet again at the return of Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 Christopher said Mom's top priority in her whole life was raising her four boys and enjoying life as she did it. She was the glue that kept our family together for decades. She was always the cook and was good at it with the family's favorite meal of German Goulash. Of course there are many other delicious meals that she made. I have lots of memories and experiences with Mom that I will never forget. Growing up Mom was pretty up front and taught good values. And she loved to play bingo or cards with her friends. She loved to travel and go places. Mom was always on the go with high energy that she always had. I will never stop the feelings of love that I will always have in my heart for my Mom!
