Charles H Sylvestre

Sylvestre, Charles H. Passed away peacefully on May 7, 2016 after a long and wonderful life of 87 years. He leaves behind a legacy of family and friends, which were the center of his life. After graduating from the Univer-sity of Minnesota, his business career followed the computer, from early mechanical accounting machines for Burroughs Corporation and Unisys through the computer and software of our era and he continued to call on customers into his early 80's. He was a sports enthusiast who rarely missed a sporting event of any of his children and grandchildren along with every concert, play, graduation and wedding ceremony of friends and family. He loved raspberries, birds and hawks and the North Shore and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an ardent amateur genealogist who loved spending time with his brother Gene, researching the family tree. His true love was his family and he lived for any gathering that included his clan and friends. He was never without his camera at any event, ready to capture that special photo which he would promptly print and deliver with a proud smile - reliving that important moment. Among the many gifts he shared with us was his ability to talk with anyone he met and immediately make them feel at ease and welcome. This trait, together with his kind demeanor will be forever remembered. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Yvonne, brother Gene (Dorothy), 5 children and their spouses, John (Alice), Jane Barnes (Bob), Jim (Bev), Julie Tapper ( Tim) and Jerry (Denise), 15 amazing grandchildren and their spouses, 3 great-grandchildren and 3 future great-grandchildren and countless friends . Special thanks to the staff at the N.C. Little Hospice for their wonderful care in the final days of his life. Visitation on Thursday, May 12 from 5-7 PM at the Washburn-McReavy, Strobeck Johnson Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins with a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 13 , at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 13505 Excelsior Blvd, Mtka with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
