Charles Andrew Paulus

Charles Andrew Paulus, born November 14th, 1946 passed away on July 2nd, 2023. Charles is proceeded in death by his father, Harold, mother, Bernice, and sister, Patricia. Charles is survived by his wife Janie (Laub), daughter Laura (Horton), son Jeffrey, son-in-law Mark, granddaughters Whitney & Lillian and many wonderful sister & brother in-laws and cousins. Charles graduated from Washburn High School in 1965 where he played tennis. He then got his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, a master's degree from the University of Minnesota and a Divinity degree from Chandler School of Theology, Emory University. Charles married Janie on December 6th, 1975 and years later they welcomed their children Laura and Jeffrey. Charles' interest for business began when he delivered papers in Minneapolis, served as a food vendor at Met Stadium and then worked for his father-in-law's company, Master, in Hastings, MN. Charles found his true passion of being an entrepreneur as he built a real estate business with Janie. They went on to be top Realtors in MN and the nation with his 1940 Cadillac limousine as his logo. Charles was active at Lake Harriet United Methodist Church, coached youth sports and was a dedicated parent and grandparent cheering at basketball, track, cross country running & skiing, diving, snowboarding and hockey competitions. Charles ran four marathons which he was very proud of. Charles enjoying watching live sports and was a proud Hawkeye fan; watching Hallmark movies with Janie and playing with his beloved dogs, most recently Ollie. Charles loved to decorate the house for holidays and frighten the neighbor kids with his Halloween displays and costumes. Charles was his best when he was fishing with Jeffrey throughout MN or Florida and loved to talk business with Laura. Charles watched closely over his gardens & crops and found such joy watching a seed grow in the spring and eventually bear fruit come summer. Charles made a tradition to travel annually to northern MN and hunt for agates and take naps at the lake. Fondly known as "Bop" by Whitney and Lilly, he loved to help them with their math problems, watch their hockey games and running races and be a supportive person in their lives. Charles will be missed dearly by his family and friends and will always be our #1 husband, dad and Bop. There will be a celebration to remember Charles on Sunday, August 13th, 3-5pm, Utley Park (4521 W. 50th St, Edina).
