Berger, Charles A. "Chuck" Age 88, of Maple Grove, passed away April 20, 2023. Preceded in death by parents, Karl and Erna, brother, William "Bill" and daughter, Leslie. Survived by wife of 65 years, Patricia, daughters, Debra Carlson and Lynne Berger(John Larson), son in law, Tom McConnell. Grandchildren, Chris Carlson, Sean(Julie)McConnell, Ben Carlson, Kendra McConnell, Emma Larson and Grace Larson. Great-grandchildren, Kaleb Morgan and Elijah Carlson. Other relatives, colleagues and friends. Chuck was a 65 year member of IBEW Local 292 where he was a committee member and trustee. He served as Business Representative for 16 years, Financial Secretary for 12 years, Retirees President for 19 years. He served on many planning committees for picnics and events. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy Reserve in 1952 and served until 1984 when he retired as Chief Petty Officer(CPO). He served in the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association (NERA) from 1973-2023 where he served as Chapter President 1986, Chapter Treasurer 1987-2020, National Conference Director 1998-99. Fleet Reserve Association 1976-2023Viking Branch Life Member. Chuck logged over 3500 hours volunteering at the Armed Forces Service Center at MSP International Airport from 1998-2020. He was a dedicated member of Arcana Masonic Lodge No. 187 for 60+ years where he held the position of Grand Master in 2003. He enjoyed music, played piano and participated and sang in the Church Choir for over 44 years. After re-locating from Minneapolis to Maple Grove, where Chuck and Pat lived on Rice Lake, he served on the Rice Lake Area Association from 1994-2004. Throughout his life, Chuck enjoyed many activities including golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling. Along with traveling in the U.S. he and Pat took trips to Mexico, Germany, Norway, and the Caribbean. They also enjoyed being a part of the Maple Grove Community Center Swim Group for 20+ years. Chuck will be dearly missed, remembered and appreciated for his companionship, quiet support, generosity and willingness to help out when and wherever needed. A celebration of life gathering will be held Monday, July 10, 4-7 pm with U.S. Navy 2-bell honor at 6:30 pm at Washburn-Mcreavy Glen Haven Funeral Chapel, 5125 W Broadway, Crystal, MN 55429.
