Catherine Frances Howard

Catherine Frances Howard, age 91, passed away on November 30th, 2024, in Anoka, MN. Cathy was born on April 5th, 1933, to Francisco "Frank" and Catherine. She grew up in Bronx, New York, before relocating to Minnesota with her husband and children. Cathy had fond memories of growing up in New York and would often share stories with her children about the hustle, bustle, and excitement of the city; how she'd run everywhere, never walked, and would leap down flights of stairs to catch the train. Her relationship with God and her family on the east coast were extremely important. She made it a priority for her children to know their extended family even though they were miles apart. Cathy had a passion for helping others and attended Nursing School while in New York, earning her Registered Nursing Degree. Cathy always put the needs of her family, friends, and others above her own, initially as a homemaker, and then after divorcing she returned to work as an RN to provide for her family until the time she retired. Cathy had the innate ability to make every one of her children, grandchildren, and friends, feel special, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate them. We will forever miss Cathy's love, laugh, wisdom, and beautiful smile, which shall live on through her family and friends. Cathy is survived by her brother John; four children, Diane, Barb (Scott), Renee, and Bill (Kris); her six grandchildren, Patrick (Kassidy), Mitchell, Leah (Ethan), Savanna (Eric), Callen (Madison), and Sydney; as well as her five great-grandchildren, Nora, Nolan, Gabriel, Keziah, and Timothy. Cathy is preceded in death by her father, Frank; mother, Catherine; sisters, Theresa and Marge; brother, Martin "Sonny", and her beloved dogs, Danny Boy and Lily. Services will be held on Friday, January 10th, 2025, at 3 PM with gathering of friends and family from 2-3 PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Directly following the Service, a light meal will be provided at the Coon Rapids VFW, 1919 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 (Next to Washburn-McReavy).
