Carolyn Ruth Mishler

Carolyn lived a long, beautiful life to age 87, passing away peacefully on January 1st 2024. Preceded in death by husband Richard Dean (Dick), parents George and Violet Amon. Survived by daughter Susan Marie Pumper of Winston Salem, NC, and son Keith Richard (Luann) Mishler of Minneapolis, MN. Sisters Doris (Dick) Poulsen, Gloria Oberg (preceded in death by husband Ken), and brother George (Karen) Amon. Carolyn was blessed with five grandchildren: Kristina Lorinser, Teresa (Michael) Starke, Sarah (Dylan) Bakken, Samuel Mishler and Emma Mishler. She was additionally blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Noah, Stella, Kinsley, Beckham, Oakland, Maverick, Montgomery, and Ivory Sue. Carolyn was born in St. Paul MN and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. Carolyn was born and lived her life with cerebral palsy but never let it get in the way of living a full life. Carolyn was the oldest of four siblings and she was happiest when she was with family. Family traditions were especially important to her, and she made every celebration special. She worked at Farmer's Union as a secretary before settling down and marrying the "love of her life" Richard (Dick) Mishler. Carolyn and Dick moved to North St. Paul, MN where they raised Susan and Keith. The family attended St. Peters Catholic Church in N. St. Paul and both Susan and Keith attend St. Peters Grade School. Carolyn actively promoted and faithfully followed the various activities her kids participated in. Carolyn loved her family deeply and was an inspirational role model as homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Faith was a particularly important part of Carolyn's life, and she was a natural healer with her words. Carolyn instilled the core values of Catholicism and made it a priority to spread her love of Jesus Christ through worship and blessing others. Carolyn and Dick took many wonderful trips together, traveling to state parks and spending winters in Fort Meyers, watching spring training baseball until Dick passed away in 1997 of a brain tumor. Carolyn was an avid Twins fan and always watched their games on TV, sometimes with family sharing special baseball memories. Carolyn spent her final few years and lived her final days at Mount Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis, a wonderful place where she was treated with great care. Carolyn will be remembered as a devoted wife to Dick, a loving and caring mother, and a great friend to many with a big heart and warm smile. Funeral mass celebration will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 5426 12th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55417 at 11:00 AM. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Luncheon provided in Pates Hall after the mass in the church, followed by a burial service at Roselawn Cemetery in St. Paul where she will be buried next to her beloved husband, Dick and parents, Violet and George.
