Carolyn Mary McLeod

Carolyn Mary McLeod - March 8,1936 - April 12, 2026 Carolyn (Lynn) McLeod was active in Education and the Arts. She was involved in committees and the PTA while her children were in school, and belonged to a variety of Arts organizations. After thriving in her one room schoolhouse in Dundas, MN as a child, she went to college to study Art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the University of Minnesota. She continued taking Art courses at the U of M, as well as writing classes at The Loft Literary Center, even with a houseful of kids. Later, she belonged to several other organizations and artist groups such as Banfill Locke in Fridley, Old Town artists in St Paul, and Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis. She worked as an artist throughout her entire adult life in drawing, painting, stained glass and ceramics. Over the years she showed her work in and around the Twin Cities area, including the Mn State Fair. She also did weekly ceramics for years with her neighborhood friends at Donna Hawker's in Spring Lake Park, where she lived most of her adult life. Carolyn was preceded in death by husband, Alexander (Al) McLeod, Sister Helen Cartin, Brother Roy Palan, In-laws Rod McLeod and Bob McLeod, son Alex McLeod and Granddaughter, Angelina McLeod (Matthew). Carolyn is survived by her children, Jennifer Batulis, Bridget (Chris) Amundsen, Cissy (Jim) Schmidt, Matthew (Suzanne Brault) McLeod and Sarah (Todd) Audette. Grandchildren: Curt, Ali (Jen), Aaron, Emily (Bridget), Ryan, Jacob, Caitlin (Cissy), Benny, Brianna, Tyler, Maya (Matthew), Cory, Rachel (Sarah), Jesse, Kasey, Sydni, Samantha, Elizabeth (Alex). Great Grandchildren: Eden, Ada, Lucy, Annabel (Jen), Aubrey, Otto (Bridget), Hadley, McKayla, Cece, Ali (Cissy), Colette, Eloise, Alexander, Forrest (Matthew). Brother, Bill Palan, sister, Ruth Sandwich and in-law, Barb McLeod. Carolyn's family would like to dearly thank Chandler Place and Pearl Garden staff for many years of devoted and loving care. There will be a Celebration of Life for Carolyn held at Jax Cafe in Minneapolis on May 23rd from Noon-3pm. Hors d'oeuvres and light refreshments will be served. Carolyn was a voracious reader her whole life. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Friends of the Anoka County Library.
