Carolyn Linner

Linner, Carolyn E. Age 84, of Minneapolis, died suddenly on Thursday, March 19, "in full stride". She loved Our Lord, her family, many friends and Minneapolis, having lived her life here and at her home on Lake Sylvan. She had the gift to be married three times, to Jamie Cowin, who gave his life as a fighter pilot in WWII; Dr. Paul W. Linner with whom she nurtured their family of five children, laid their foundation of faith at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church and built their wonderful home on Lake Sylvan in Brainerd; and Miles McNally, together they traveled, dined, danced and graciously loved their combined McNally/Linner family from their apartment on Marquette, Sylvan and Arranmore on Gull Lake. Carolyn grew up Carolyn Helen Eriksen, in Linden Hills. She attended Linden Hills Congregational Church, Lake Harriet Elementary, West HS and then graduated "Best All Around" in the first Southwest HS class. She received her BA from the U of M and then completed her Interior Design Certification in NYC. She was a "Little Red Hen," member of Alpha Phi sorority, Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church council, past president Hennepin County Medical Auxiliary, Friends of the Institute, AAUW, Gustavus Library Assoc., WCA, Westminster Town Forum and did not miss a season at the Guthrie or Orchestra Hall. She loved to play bridge and loved the friends she played with, both here in Mpls. and at the lake. Last summer she was still playing golf and doing water aerobics every week. She lived life to the fullest and was known for her smile, her loving presence, gracefulness and hospitality. She loved to read, cook and entertain all of us! We love her so and miss her, but know she "feasts in paradise with Thee," Lord Jesus! Carolyn, lovingly known as "Kiyi," is survived by son Robert (Elizabeth): Kathryn, Laura, Jane; son David (Rhonda); daughter Sarah (Joel) Quie: Christian (fiancée Jennifer DiAngelis), Johan, Stephan; daughter Amy (Timothy) Quarberg: Olivia, David, John, Linnea; son Erik; sister Mariam Buckman; the McNally family: Carl, Sally (John) Ahlgren; Tom; Michael (Devon) and 9 wonderful grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents Nils Henry and Caroline Eriksen; brother John (Anne) Eriksen. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Church or donor's choice. Memorial service 11 AM, Thursday, Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 50th & Knox Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation 5-7 PM, Tuesday at: Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 West 50th St. & Hwy 100
