Carol Joyce Mary Ann Freeburg Freeburg, Carol J. age 92, passed peacefully away with family present on June 27th, 2024 while at her home in Robbinsdale. Preceded in death by her husband John, her parents John Gunnard Anderson and Ida Louise (nee Gabrielson); brothers-in-law Bernard Reisberg, Gordon, Garold and Roland Freeburg; sisters-in-law Rosanne, Bea and Carol Freeburg. She will be greatly missed by her loving sons John N Freeburg III, James (Tara) Freeburg, Charles (Lisa) Freeburg; her close sister Joanne Reisberg; grandchildren Alex, Merdena, Lara, Jack and Charlie; her many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Born at Swedish Hospital in MPLS, Carol grew up on Dupont Ave N, graduating from North High in '48. She participated in the Drama Club, played accordion and piano, was a member of the National Honor Society and the National American Red Cross. She was selected as Miss Svenskarnas Dag, (Swedish Day) and designated as St Lucia for the annual St Lucia celebration. After receiving a BA in Education from the University of Minnesota she went on to teach at Grant and Hall Elementary Schools and spent a year teaching in Seattle while in the Educator Exchange Program. After marrying John, they moved from MPLS to Robbinsdale where they raised three sons. Carol loved being part of the community. She was a member of Kate Dunwoody Institute, the Women's Christian Association (WCA), her Sorority Kappa Kappa Lambda, Hope Circle at Elim Lutheran Church and the American Swedish Institute. As the boys got older, she returned to teaching in the Robbinsdale School District. She enjoyed knitting, was a voracious reader, loved playing the accordion, baking her chocolate chip and Swedish cookies, her flower garden and spending time with her family and friends at home and at the cabin. Carol was filled with energy, and was truly interested in others; bringing laughter and joy to those around her with the ability to let them to know how special they were. She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and a beautiful woman. She will be truly missed. Carol's Memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 13th 2024 at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 W Broadway, Robbinsdale.
