Carol A. Carter (Soine) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on November 28, 2022 of beloved wife, mother and grandmother Carol Ann Carter, age 77. Carol was a lifelong Minnesota resident, having recently moved into Autumn Glen Senior Living in Coon Rapids after living in Plymouth, Golden Valley, New Brighton, and Minneapolis. She was born in St. Paul on July 20, 1945, one of four children and the only daughter of Lloyd and Edith Soine. She graduated from Humboldt High in St. Paul in 1963 and Macalester College in 1967, keeping in touch with her college "Mac Group" friends the rest of her life. After college she taught physical education and speech in West Concord, MN and Minneapolis before transitioning her career, retiring from North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after working for 25 years in the hospital's library. Carol and her husband of 53 years, Kay (Casey) Carter, were wed June 14, 1969 in St. Paul. They soon settled in Northeast Minneapolis, and began a family, with son Chad arriving in 1974 and son Scott in 1978 after moving to New Brighton. Carol and Casey were longtime members of Atonement Lutheran Church in New Brighton where she sang in the choir and was active with the church's Holiday Boutique. Carol had a wonderful singing voice and, in addition to solo and choir performances at Atonement, she sang with the New Brightunes and Treble Tones Women's Choruses. Carol was highly skilled at sewing, quilting, and crafting, and enjoyed making a variety of things including much of her own clothing and numerous quilts and stuffed animals for her children and grandchildren. She took pride in passing on her love of sewing to her granddaughter. After retiring she and Casey would exhibit their handiwork at craft shows around the area. Carol was an avid reader, reading dozens of books every year and she was also a dedicated crossword puzzle aficionado, for many years rarely missing the daily puzzle in the newspaper. She loved to travel all over the country, with a particular fondness for visiting National Parks. In later years, Carol loved spending time with her five grandchildren. Carol will be remembered for her kind, supportive and generous spirit. She was always willing share her talents or help in any way she could making those around her know they were loved. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her. Carol is survived by husband Kay; sons, Chad (Danielle) Carter and Scott (Jennifer) Carter; grandchildren, Zoe and Zachary Carter, Jackson, Beckett, and Declan Carter; brothers, Lloyd (Karen) Soine, Robert (Kay) Soine and Ronald (Paula) Soine. She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Soine and mother Edith Soine. Memorial service to be held Thursday, December 8th at 11AM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel. Visitation beginning at 10AM. The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
