Christoffersen ObituaryEdina, MN - A memorial service for Carl Christoffersen will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Friendship Hall at the main entrance of Friendship Village of Bloomington, at 8100 Highwood Drive, Bloomington, MN 55438. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and a reception will follow the service. Pastor Patty Beadle will be the officiant. Due to limited parking, complimentary valet parking will be provided. Interment will be on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Milltown Cemetery, 2229-2231 160th Street, Milltown, WI 54858. Carl was born to E.B. and Dorothy Christoffersen. He grew up in Ogema, Wisconsin. He served during the Korean War and later became a member of the American Legion. Carl graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, and then was first employed by Bituminous Insurance Companies. He married Doris (Simpson) Christoffersen, with whom he celebrated over 70 years of marriage. He is also survived by their three children, Mark (and Sue) Christoffersen, Karla (and Rick) Sovereign, and John (and Lisa) Christoffersen, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Carl is also survived by his brother, John Christoffersen, of Florida, and his sister, Carol Anderson, of Iowa. Highlights of Carl's business career included opening a branch office for Bituminous in Memphis, TN, continuing work for Bituminous in Minneapolis, becoming a member of CPCU, joining Holm & Associates, working at Marquette Insurance Agency, becoming a partner of MIG Insurance Brokers, and finishing his career with Norwest, now Wells Fargo. Carl was a member of Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina, and most recently lived at Friendship Village of Bloomington. Carl loved spending time with Doris, family, and friends in Wisconsin on a lake similar to the one he frequented as a boy growing up. He enjoyed working to make it a gathering spot where everyone felt welcome. It was truly his "happy place." He and Doris also loved spending their winters in Texas, and their travels, especially to Hawaii. Carl was always happy to lend a hand and offer encouragement, and the coffee was always on for anyone who stopped by. He will be dearly missed. One Vision, founded in 1966 as Handicap Village, opened for services in 1971. The organization changed its name to Opportunity Village in 1994, a change that more accurately reflected its identity and mission. One of the supporters who suggested this change was Carl's sister Carol Anderson. In 2017, the organization rebranded and embraced the name One Vision to symbolize how its founders came together with a common vision that still helps guide the organization's efforts today - to advance independence and inclusion. Carl's youngest brother Arthur Christoffersen, now deceased, was served by One Vision.
