Bruce Barrett Allan

Our dearly loved husband, cherished son and devoted father, Bruce Barrett Allan, 61, of Minneapolis, MN, died peacefully on Tuesday morning at home. He is survived by his wife, Lynne (Jorgensen) Allan; his son, Stone Allan; his mother, Dawn Waldron Allan; his sister, Brooke (Mrs. Raymond) Topalof; and his brother, Scott Bradford Allan, of Portland, OR. Also survived by his niece, Kendall Topalof; and nephews, Finley Allan, Wyatt Allan and Nicholas Topalof. Bruce, affectionately known to family and many friends as “Bruno”, attended the International School of Brussels, Belgium before graduating from Edina High School, Edina, MN. He subsequently went to the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, majoring in Computer Science. Following their marriage in 1995, Bruce and Lynne spent several years living in and loving southern California. They returned to Minnesota somewhat reluctantly in 2003, and after getting his real estate license, Bruce joined the Edina Realty sales staff. At the same time, he began to exhibit his obvious skills in the areas of construction and remodeling. He then got his contractor’s license and launched The Allan Company, a residential and commercial construction company. He was passionate about his work and quickly gained a reputation for being able to remodel and/or construct “anything”. He was a perfectionist and took great pride in both the functionality and artistic excellence of his finished products! Bruce shared a love for camping with his wife and son and spent numerous summer weekends exploring Minnesota, Wisconsin and environs. He was a “doting-dad” and among other pursuits, took great joy in encouraging not only his son, but numerous other young athletes during years of volunteer coaching for the Minneapolis Community Center youth football, soccer, baseball and basketball programs. Bruce’s story wouldn’t be complete without mentioning his unrequited love-affair with automobiles. Yes….cars! One need only visit his Facebook site to see that his favorite ‘profile pictures’ were of stylish vintage cars “hitting the road”. Visitation is scheduled at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home in Edina, 5000 W. 50th St., Edina, on Sunday, November 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16 at the Lakewood Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends and family are encouraged to attend either or both of these events to honor Bruce’s life …. unexpectedly lost to us but now in the loving care of our Heavenly Father! -COVID precautions will be followed-
