Brett August Tollifson 01/17/1969 - 05/08/2025 Age 56 Brett was born on an Army Base in Lawton, OK. When Brett was 6 months old, his Dad retired and the family moved to Minnesota. Brett grew up at 2738 Russell Ave N, Minneapolis. He attended Patrick Henry High School and then Dundwoody to become an automotive mechanic. Brett transitioned from auto mechanic to Machinist for the BNSF. Brett was also an Ice Cream Man for some years with his dad, Eugene Tollifson. He continued selling ice cream when his dad passed with some of our children as helpers. He always loved seeing all the kids and families happy for ice cream. He ran his truck in Columbia Heights, Fridley and Moundsview. Brett always worked hard to support his family, even when his body started failing him. He was married to Gina (Abbott) for 36 years. They had 6 children and many foster/surrogate children. He earned the title "Grandpa" and many children called him that. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Brett was always available to anyone who needed anything. His noteable contribution was working on someone's car to help them out. He also worked on the house, building decks, stairs, railings, fences, sheds and a garage. He also built stairs and railings for some of his favorite people. He spoiled himself by buying and fixing cars for his own use. At one point he had three Camero's in the driveway to piece together one running Camero aka The Batmobile! He and the children had a blast with that! His prize car was the "55 Chevy. He had that car for the longest time, only selling it when his cancer prevented him from enjoying it. One thing Brett looked forward to every year was our "4th of July Party". He would drive to Wisconsin and buy (too many!) fireworks. All of our family and friends would come and it was an all day event. The neighbors would ask "Our you doing fireworks this year?" Everyone loved it. So that is why we are having his "Celebration of Life" at our house. He would appreciate it. Brett was a huge Vikings fan. He often said "Being a fan doesn't help them win". He also loved the Minnesota Twins, but not as much as the Vikings. Brett was preceded in death by our son Gabriel, all three of his siblings, and his parents.
