Bonita (Bonnie) Louise (Gatz) Cattnach

Cattnach, Bonita (Bonnie) Louise (née Gatz) age 74, of Bloomington, MN, passed away on November 22nd, 2017. Bonnie was born on August 3rd, 1943 in Winona, MN. With the exception of several years her family spent on the Alaskan frontier, she and her brother Steve spent their childhood in Winona, MN surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from Winona High School in 1961 and studied at Mankato State University, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. This is also where she met and married Dale Eugene Cattnach, her husband of 52 years. She started her career and family in New Jersey, but moved back to Minnesota in 1976. A loving mother, she and Dale raised their family in Eden Prairie, MN (when it was wide open farmland). Bonnie was a registered nurse. She served for many years on the night shift at Methodist hospital in St. Louis Park, MN rising to the level of charge nurse. She retired in 1998 to the quiet life in Bloomington, MN. Bonnie was an avid gardener, seamstress, knitter, photographer, and scrap booker, leaving behind a treasure trove of family lore and memorabilia. Bonnie was a record collector and music enthusiast enjoying local concerts and the theater. She loved Motown hits, Whitney Houston, The Bee Gees, Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond; just to name a few. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cecilia Gatz, and brother Steve Gatz. She is survived by her husband, Dale, sister-in-law, Sandy Gatz, children: Heather, Darren (Katherine) Cattnach, and Dawn (Kyle) Nelson; and grandchildren Tyler, Claire, Gwendolyn, Isabella, Lilian, and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews. A service to honor Bonnie’s life will be held at noon on December 21st, 2017 at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55408. The family wishes to thank the caring and professional staff at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospice and the Jones-Harrison Residence for their support during this difficult transition.
