Beverly Beth DeGriselles

Beverly Beth Rennaker DeGriselles, Bev, was born July 1, 1929 in Mora, Minnesota to Charlotte Monica Burk Rennaker and Frank McKinley Rennaker, Sr. She died at age 90 on May 17, 2020 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Her family farmed in Rushmore, Minnesota. She shared many fond memories of living on the S.T. Wood’s farm, and was a 4H member. She, and her sister, Shirley, tap danced on tin sheets in true Shirley Temple fashion. Beverly was educated in Rushmore and Worthington school districts. She attended “beauty school” in Mankato, Minnesota, and was her extended family’s beautician. In 1949, Beverly participated as a queen candidate for Miss Worthington. She married William “Bill” A. DeGriselles on January 28, 1950. They worked together at the Twin Cities Arsenal in New Brighton, MN. She described their early marriage as working nights, and fishing all day while living in Zimmerman, MN. Bill and Bev made their next home in Worthington, Minnesota. First in a tiny home in the “Vet” (veteran’s) housing, then in a home they purchased on Church Ave. Beverly worked at Worthmore Creamery & Produce plant, Rickbeils, and J.C. Penny’s in Worthington, MN. She transferred to J.C. Penny’s in Minneapolis, MN when the family moved to the Twin Cities. They bought a house in St. Louis Park, MN, and Beverly worked at Qualitone Hearing Aid Company until she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed working part-time as a “sample lady” for Sam’s Club in St. Louis Park, MN for 5 years. While in Worthington, Bill and Bev were square dancers with the Turkey Trotters, Night Owls, and founding members, along with Orville and Mavis Appel, of the Lake Okabena Water Ski Club. They were also avid fishermen in summer and winter, in addition to pheasant hunting each autumn. Living in St. Louis Park, they enjoyed their friends and family fishing, boating, water skiing, and snowmobiling. They were founding members of the Isanti Rum Runners and Cambridge Drift Dusters Snowmobile Clubs in Isanti County, MN. When she was at home, Beverly was an experienced baker, cook, sewist, crafter, and crocheter. She crocheted and donated many hats to the newborn nursery at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. She is survived by her daughter, Wendelin (Wendy) S. Sandstrom, St. Louis Park, MN, granddaughter, Heidi M. Sandstrom Larson (Mark), Blaine, MN, great granddaughter, Haley A. Larson (partner Zachary Watkins), Blaine, MN, sister Shirley R. Karstens (Jack), Cambridge, MN, brother Frank M. Rennaker, Jr. (Ardy) of Blaine, MN, sisters-in-law Irene Rennaker, New York, Carol Rennaker, Cambridge, MN, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. When husband Bill died in 1999, they were married a few days short of 50 years. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) A. DeGriselles, parents, Frank M. Rennaker, Sr., and Charlotte M. B. Burk Rennaker, Brothers Evert D. Rennaker (Mary), Wendle L. Rennaker, Sr. (Rose), Wayne L. Rennaker, Gaylord D. Rennaker, and infant sisters Cleo Francis, and Barbara Jean. Celebration of Beverly’s life to be arranged later.
