Beverly Jane Buck

Beverly Buck, age 96, passed away to "skate with the angels" on April 10, 2023. She was born Sept 17, 1926. Bev enjoyed living in Minneapolis most of her life. She formed long-time friendships through Roller Skating and activities at neighboring Catholic Churches - Holy Rosary, St Peters and St Richards. She'd waitressed downtown at the Curtis Mesabi Coffee Shop, the Federal Reserved Executive Dining Room, plus the Leamington and Sofitel Minneapolis, and Friendship Village, making friends with co-workers, too. Her pastimes and "passions" ranged from card games, Scrabble, Jigsaw puzzles and Crossword puzzles (in ink!); to a Sports Fan - particularly the Vikings. Downtown window-shopping was another "hobby" to stay current with the trends without spending money. Roller skating was her first favorite -- even met her husband at a Roller rink as a teenager. She loved to walk - fresh air and exercise-- plus occasional Yoga and visits to the Y. She frequently re-arranged her furnishings, with much curiosity over the potential outcome. Bev loved the downtown view she had from her Bloomington apartment and stayed very healthy to avoid moving until absolutely necessary. And, with five kids, there was always a chance to babysit a grandchild. Curious about In-line skates and how they compared to her roller rink skates, she managed to show off right up until she fell and broke her wrist. But laughed about it. She favored an ice-cold glass of milk and was known to drink up to two gallons each week -- even in her 90's. We wonder: Was that her magic formula for longevity? Maybe so. Preceded in death by her parents Jake and Jessie Johnson of Glencoe, MN, one son: Bruce Buck; and six siblings: Kenneth (Sarah) Johnson; Vivian Gallagher, Lloyd Johnson (Evelyn); Loretta Ziegler (John) Sidney Johnson (Joan); and Adelaide Johnson. Survived by five children Allan Buck (Dorothy), Lynette Disrud (Richard), Tracy Bear (John), Barbara Holmes (Michael) and Janet Simpson, plus 8 grandchildren and 4 Great grandchildren. A Graveside Memorial service is scheduled Wednesday, May 17, 11:00 AM, at Glencoe St. Pius X Catholic Cemetery, 1325 1st St E, Glencoe, MN Washburn-McReavy Eden Prairie Chapel 952-975-0400
