Betty Lou Miller Sjodin It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Lou Miller Sjodin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. We rejoice in knowing that she is in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Betty died unexpectedly in the early morning hours on December 3, 2024. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Brenda (Jim) Niemi, Judy (Sergio) Contreras, and Diana (Chuck) Swensson; her grandchildren Caleb, Abby, Victoria, Alexander, Diego, Samantha, Vanessa, and Liam; her sisters Carol (Ricardo) Huerta, Sue Miller, Mary (Len) Harrell; and her brother Rey (Julie) Miller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Diódoro Maldonado Verduzco, her parents Eva and Adolph Miller, and her brother Tim Miller. Born in Escanaba, Michigan on March 17, 1948, Betty grew up in Gladstone, Michigan, and graduated from Gladstone High School. After high school, she worked as a secretary at Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association (GTA) in St. Paul, Minnesota. Betty and Diódoro met in Mexico City in 1969. Despite the initial language barrier, the two fell in love,got married and they raised their three daughters. Betty lived in Mexico for 51 years where she embraced Mexican culture and formed deep connections with her community. Betty will be remembered for her amazing baking skills, her infectious laughter, and her generous hospitality. Faith was a cornerstone of Betty's life. She loved Jesus and spent each morning in prayer and devotions. She never missed an opportunity to share God's message of grace and hope with those around her. Betty's legacy of faith, hospitality, and love will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but always remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. A visitation will be held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel (515 Hwy. 96 W., Shoreview, MN 55126) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on December 20, 2024. The celebration of Betty's life will take place at Grace Point Church (2351 Rice Creek Rd., New Brighton, MN 55112) on December 21, 2024. Betty vivió en México durante 51 años, tiempo en el que adoptó con cariño la cultura mexicana y formó profundos vínculos con su amada familia política y con su comunidad. Betty será recordada por sus increíbles habilidades en la repostería, su risa contagiosa y su generosa hospitalidad. Su fé en Dios fué uno de los fundamentos más importantes de su vida. Amaba a Jesús y pasaba cada mañana en oración y leyendo sus devocionales. Nunca perdió una oportunidad para compartir el mensaje de gracia y esperanza de Dios con quienes la rodeaban. El legado de fe, hospitalidad y amor de Betty perdurará en todos los que la conocieron. La extrañaremos profundamente, pero siempre será recordada por su familia, amigos y todos aquellos cuyas vidas tocó. Se realizará una visita en la Capilla Funeraria Washburn-McReavy (515 Hwy. 96 W., Shoreview, MN 55126) de 4:00 a 7:00 p.m. el 20 de diciembre de 2024.
