Beth Mary Nelson

Nelson, Beth Mary (Davison) age 93, died peacefully Sept. 24, 2014 at Carefree Living in Cook, MN. Beth was born in Wahpeton, ND to Ray & Helen (Peterson) Davison on Jan. 28, 1921. Beth grew up in Tintah and Morris, MN, graduating valedictorian of her high school class. She graduated from St. Cloud Teacher's College and taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Meeker County, MN. On December 27, 1941, Beth married Carleton E. Nelson in Minneapolis, MN. They celebrated 71 years of marriage before Carleton passed away on April 20, 2012. In 1954, Carleton and Beth moved from Bloomington to Virginia, MN, where they raised their family among great friends. In 1970 the family moved back to the Twin Cities. Beth was an active member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church, P.E.O. (Past President of Chapter CI) and member of the Red Hats. Beth was a passionate reader and loved gardening, animals, traveling & telling stories. She was gracious, charming, witty, and friendly. She loved and cherished her family and friends. Six children survive Beth: Judy (Lester) Liudahl of Bloomington, MN, Bonnie Tell of St. Paul, Michael (Janet) Nelson of Edina, MN, Colleen (Lester) Rablin of Cook, MN, Craig (Christine) Nelson of Waukesha, WI, Mark (Rhonda) Nelson of Brook-field, WI; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grand-children; brother, Keith (Evelyn) Davison; sisters, Norma (Ed) Nelson, Lois Crosby; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Nelson, Dorothy Nelson and Elinor Davison; and other relatives and friends. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton E. Nelson; her parents, brother, Gary Davison, grandson, Jacob Nelson and brother-in-law, Ron Crosby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cottey College - Office of Institutional Advancement, Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin Blvd., Nevada, MO 64772 or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd SW, Lilbrun, GA 30047.
