Benjamin Eugene Darrow

Darrow, Benjamin E. age 93 of Burnsville, formerly of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on April 11, 2023. He was born October 24, 1929 in Grand Island, Nebraska. Ben graduated from York High School in York, Nebraska. After graduating he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. After serving in the Air Force, he attended the Northrop Aeronautical Institute in Inglewood, California. While attending school in California, Ben met the love of his life, Dorothy Buckmeier. Ben and Dorothy were married in Inglewood, California on October 2, 1955. Ben began his airline career at Western Airlines in California. He and Dorothy decided to move to Minnesota so they could be closer to both of their families, where he then began working for North Central Airlines. Ben enjoyed woodworking, carving and oil painting. Some of his favorite things were spending time with family, traveling and singing to his cat, Oreo. Preceded in death by wife his of 51 years, Dorothy; his father Benjamin A. Darrow; his mother Bessie Larkin; his brothers, Lowell and Wendell; his sisters, Celia, Zelpha (Harold), Alberta, Brena (Ron) and his nephew David; Ben's in-laws, Robert and Esther Buckmeier; brother-in law Vern (Avis) (Jody) Buckmeier; Bob Buckmeier; and sister-in-law Janice (Jim) Kennedy and niece Julie Nelson. Surviving Ben are his son, Robert Darrow; daughters, Pamela (Ron) Kubes; Susan (Monte) Borgen; Jodi (Jeff) Boller; grandchildren, Bryan (Laura) Kubes; Scott (Jen) Kubes; Brad Borgen, Heather Borgen (Gilbert), Cody Boller and Ryan Boller. Great Grandchildren, Brady Kubes; Gwen Kubes; Parker Kubes; Bianca Kubes; Charlie Kubes and Mira Kubes; nephew Bill Snyder; niece, Janet (Mike) Pregler. Brother-in-laws, Richard Buckmeier; Ronald Buckmeier; Sister-in-laws, Becky Buckmeier; Judy Buckmeier and Pat Buckmeier; nieces and nephews of the Buckmeier family; those whom played such an important role in Ben's life and which he loved so dearly. Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 22nd with visitation one hour prior, at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 9100 Russell Ave. S., Bloomington, MN.
